Monday New Roundup As We Ride the Zampa Crazy Train
By: Martha | November 26th, 2007
•Manuela Prandelli, the wife of Fiorentina manager Cesare Prandelli, died this morning after a long illness. I’m trying to resist the old chestnut about it putting everything in perspective but it’s sort of undeniable — it’s awfully hard to care about the table now, isn’t it? RIP.
•Juve and Napoli supporters are already banned from traveling next weekend, and they’re expected to be joined by those of Inter, Genoa and Lazio.
•Got a question for Javier Zanetti? Now’s your big chance. (I’m planning to ask how his hair is always so perfect, no matter the weather or the intensity of the match. Magical powers?)
•You gotta respect (I guess) Alex Del Piero’s confidence — he claims he announced prior to yesterday’s match that he’d score a brace against Palermo. There’s no word on if he can forsee anything other than his own goals, but the Juve captain is determined that his future hold a return to the Azzurri squad for Euro 2008 and beyond (but of course only at out-and-out striker).
•Gianfranco Zola ain’t talking about the England job.
•Champions League injury woes: Milan will be without both Massimo Ambrosini and Pippo Inzaghi, while Roma will be missing, among others, Francesco Totti and Philippe Mexes. It’s never easy, is it?
•Luca Toni wants to come home and score more goals, just not right now.
•Look out, Napoli: Man U want Marek Hamsik. Whether they’re willing to pay his alleged €18 million ask price is something else entirely, however.
•Kaka’s wife is prengant. Aw, a tiny, human golden ball!
