Monday Odds n Ends as We Learn Ranieri Didn’t Want Tiago Anyway
By: Martha | December 10th, 2007
•Claudio Ranieri is quoted in the press as saying Juve were “forced” into buying Tiago when the high price tage Liverpool slapped on Mohamed Sissoko (who Juve were chasing fully a year ago) made them look elsewhere for midfield help. Boy, I’m sure that makes Tiago feel really great about being there. No more angry outbursts from him, no sir.
•Unlike Tiago, everyone wants Amauri, as usual. His chatty and possibly pathologically lying agent (GOD does he talk alot) has recently been talking up Chelsea, as well as “two or three Spanish clubs,” while Corriere della Sera claim Milan are ready to give Palermo £18 million for the striker’s services, and will offer Amauri a contract worth £4 million for each of four seasons. Dang.
•Juve, again, are really, really close to signing Frank Lampard.
•Yet another name has appeared in the Riccardo Zampagna picture: This time, it’s Siena, who need help in a whole lot of areas.
•A Turkish lawyer who’s got nothing to do with Fenerbahçe is registering an appeal with UEFA to get the Turkish club back the three points they lost to Inter on the last Champions League Matchday. Why? Inter’s centennial red and white kits “recall the uniform of the Knights Templar,” and consequently are considered offensive in Turkish culture. Oddly, Inter are aware of this issue and purposely didn’t wear the kits when they played in Turkey, but figured it would be ok to bring them out at home. Wrong. (The points aren’t going anywhere, but still. Not good.)
•As he prepares to take the England gig, Fabio Capello is pimping Bobo and Antonio Cassano for Azzurri recalls. Hmm.

I have a serious mancrush on Amauri…haha
ok, but seriously, Donadoni needs to place that call! immediately! how about two strikers with ties to Palermo (one former) on the Azzurri?? Imagine that one-two punch! AMAURI-TONI! Buonanotte!

I’m going on what Grimaldi said here, but is it possible Amauri’s not got his Italian passport? I gather he’s eligible and has requested one, but I don’t think he’s official yet.

Perhaps Inter should petition UEFA to give them back 3 points from their initial loss because Fenerbache was wearing the crescent moon symbol which is offensive for countless Muslim aggressions. It’s just as absurd.

Bobo is past his prime, and Cassano doesn’t have the Brian to remain focused.
AND SCREW THE TURKS

If Fenerbahçe had a problem with the jersey, all they had to do was say something and Inter would have worn something else. I think this looks like sour grapes from Fenerbahçe - I wonder if they support the appeal.

It is also my understanding that Amauri is still waiting for his Italian passport. I agree, he is good… but I just dont like the guy! Maybe it is the petulant faces he pulls every time he is kept from scoring, but he just rubs me the wrong way. Granted, I am all for more glory to the Azzurri, but do they really need one more diva striker?

It’s a hideous kit, for which alone Inter deserve to be penalised, but there isn’t really a case here, is there? I bet those Galatasaray fans are all laughing themselves sick now.

Amauri’s not going anywhere. Rino, what do you think?
“A gennaio Amauri non si muoverà sicuramente. Su questo posso essere categorico”.
Yeah, exactly…Grimaldi-bitch, he’s staying.

Oi, roswitha, it’s not THAT bad. I’d even go so far as to say the long-sleeved one is quite nice.
Steven, why does Amauri continue to employ a guy no one earth trusts or respects? Surely there are other options?
