Quick, Steal the Keeper from the Best Small Team in Italy!

By: Martha | November 27th, 2006

AmeliaBecause they’re not good enough but have a fair amount of money (or are willing to spend lots of dough that they don’t have), Liverpool are preparing a rather public swoop for Livorno and Italy goalkeeper Marco Amelia. Apparently his People (Read: Dad) have been fielding offers from all over the map, including one from Milan who, suddenly, find themselves sans a first-choice a keeper. If it was up to Amelia, he’d go back to Roma but, since that’s not an option, he’s likely — quite wisely, it must be said — to go to whichever club throws the biggest wads of money at him during the transfer window.

If he does wander off, it looks like (barring a dive into the transfer market of their own) Livorno will hand the job to ex-Bologna keeper Emanuele Manitta, about whom I know nothing. One hopes he’s not terrible.

Also, in other totally unsurprising news, Real still want Kaka. As does everyone else.
