Here’s the deal with Ms. Merz, who is actually Mrs. Bazzani: If google images is any indication, I’m not even sure she wears clothes. Or maybe she’s just allergic to all types of clothing materials – which, I guess, isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Aside from being topless all the time, Merz is/was an actress of sorts, with a less than bustling IMDb page – though she did play “Fair Woman” in an Italian TV reproduction of Dracula, which will surely jump off the page of any resume. But she got her start as a model (no way!) and worked her way onto the WAG circuit by doing TV dramas and the WAGgish things. Plus she did a calendar. You know, standard stuff.

Now she’s employed by having hubby Fabio Bazzani’s babies (two of ‘em so far, one just last month) and being all motherly and that type of stuff. Bazzani being, of course, former striker for like 12,000 teams in Lega Calcio, with Sampdoria being his longest run until last year, and plying his trade in Serie B with Brescia now. Plus he’s got a few Azzurri caps to his name. (Rumor has it she was the girl to console Francesco Totti’s heart after his breakup with Maria Mazza.)

Ms. Magdalena Graaf is the beauty on the arm of Magnus Hedman, who once spent three games in between the sticks of Ancona, which totally qualifies her for WOTW status. She’s a model who enjoys taking her clothes off and somewhat recently formed a terribly craptastic pop duo with her sister (Hannah) who, as you may be able to see, isn’t half bad herself. And due to their pop group and plenty o’ pics, this is somewhat of a double feature. I know, I apologize.

The highlight of Ms. Graaf’s resume actually involves literature. Her autobiography detailing her childhood and an early marriage (all this via Wikipedia, I realize you aren’t here for the article – and if you are you need to do some soul searching) called “It’s going to be a pleasure to kill you”. So that’s nice.

I was quite surprised Martha didn’t happen introduce everyone to Ms. Federica Ridolfi, the girlfriend of Giuliano Giannichedda, some dude who now only occasionally plays football for Livorno (formerly of Juventus, Lazio and Udinese).

Federica followed the official “How To Be A WAG” self-help book and got started as a dancer on a TV show, which led to more TV shows, which eventually led to taking her clothes off in front of cameras. She’s now 31, despite looking much younger, and quite deserving of a prestigious spot here as the WOTW. And she has a mighty distinctive tattoo; you can figure out what it is if you stare at it long enough.

But alas, it is not. It’s Mrs. Totti, aka Ilary Blasi, who earned the legendary title as the very first ever WOTW – and who has also been redone, making her the first ever three time WOTW. She may be Romanista, but I think everyone can agree here that there are no fandoms here, everybody is a winner.

Ilary, as you may know, was famous for hosting television shows and being scantily clad and having all sorts of qualifying characteristics which allow WAGs to become WAGs in the first place. Now she’s just plain old Mrs. Totti, nurturing Francesco’s favorite perfumes children and doing all sorts of motherly things which we assume don’t require posing nude for pictures anymore.

Belen Rodriguez shot to “fame” in Italy last year when it was revealed it was her STD meds that made boyfriend Marco Borriello test positive for steroids. Oops. Not to worry, though, apparently “skank” is hot, because not only are they still together, but word in the Italian gossip press is that Belen was on the receiving end of some naughty text messages from Bobo Vieri over the weekend. (Hey, I just reported the news.) They’ve never actually met, but her cell phone number is apparently not much of a secret and Bobo just wanted to share his “OMG MY 200th GOAL!” excitement with a skanky stranger. Allegedly.

I’m sorry to report I can’t find a damn thing about her background online (apart from the STD thing), but she’s a model and an Argie, and here’s a big gallery of pictures of her to occupy you in lieu of actual information.

Ms. Martina Stella was in the Italian gossip press this week, supposedly captured in a vaguely intimate moment with none other than the very married Adrian Mutu. (Quel scandal!) As a fervent Mutu supporter, I obviously have a contractual obligation to believe him when he says that they are old friends, and that “You can not write these things to a married man with three children.” Unshakable personal trust aside, however, she’s now officially a Dubious WAG, whether Mutu likes it or not.

Stella seems to be an actual, legit actress (as opposed to, you know, a showgirl who takes her boobs to a movie or two just for kicks) in Italy, on both stage and in the movies, including a bit part in the not-Italian Ocean’s 12. In addition, she’s also a model, though it appears it’s called “spokesperson” when you’re a Serious Actress. All that, and still only 24 — why, she’s got years and years left to build up her WAG resume.

I know you don’t need any justification for this one, but Debora Salvalaggio dated Super Bobo. And Super Pippo. And she no only knows (as she says) a lot about football, but also used to host a show about it. And still finds time to do nudie calendars! (She’s a hero.) And she’s gorgeous. So, enjoy.

Sara Tommasi made her first appearance here last May, just as the 2006-2007 season was ending, so if you reach a little bit, it make sense that she’d come back as the first half of the 2007-2008 one is drawing to a close. (Or, it could be because I’ve used all Bobo’s WAGs twice, and she was the first one I stumbled upon who was semi-fresh.)

Tommasi’s WAG claim to fame is a fling with Super Pippo, who is so freaking busy with the ladies he could well not even remember her — it only lasted a couple weeks, after all. She also dated Valon Behrami, but since the man hasn’t been healthy in a year, it’s hard blame her for getting sick of him and moving on and living the single life. Who wants to be saddled with a guy whose sport hernia won’t go away? What fun would that be?

Life post-Valon and Pippo for Sara has been pretty much what it was before: Getting her boobs out, a whirlwind of parties, getting her boobs out, reality shows, getting her boobs out, and nuddie calendars. Boy, that’s the life, huh?

While Anna Falchi (real name Anna Kristiina Palomäki — she’s half Finnish), as far as I know, lacks a strong background in dating footballers, she did recently have a fling with Roma’s Matteo Ferrari, something that didn’t exactly help his already rocky relationship with serial fooballer dater Aida Yespica. (Apparently if you’re a young, rich footballer who looks sort of like TI, the supply of gorgeous women interested in keeping your company is virtually without limit.) So, even if that particular “relationship” lasted only 10 minutes, it’s enough to get her into the club.

Plus, wor Anna’s a model-actress, so she’ll fit right in. As opposed to the rest of them, though, she’s actually been in a bunch of movies, and at least one that was fairly successful. Granted, the movie was Dellamorte Dellamore (called Cemetery Man, in its very limited release in the US), and it was successful in part because she was topless in it, but still — she’s a star, man. (Plus, Rupert Everett was in it with her, which means she knows him, which makes her inherently cooler than 90% of the other WAGs.)

Inspired by Gabriel, who suggest that one (of the many) Pippo Inzaghi WAGs be featured this week in tribute to the Milan man’s Goal Scoring Greatness, and by Linda, who said it might have been this very WAG who led to the falling of out of BFFs Pippo n Bobo, I present to you Ms. Samantha De Grenet.

As I’m sure you remember from her first appearance here back in in June, Wor Samantha — who is from some sort of vaguely royal stock — has been modeling since she won a contest at the age of 14, and very shortly thereafter started taking her clothes off on camera. She also spent a LOT of time dating footballers, allegedly in order to get publicity. And, since she was dating the likes of Francescos Totti and Coco and Pippo the Sex Machine, that little ploy probably worked quite well. She was even engaged to Pippo briefly, after which point his boy Bobo Vieri may or many not have gotten involved with her. Which, perhaps, is what brought Bobo and Pippo to such a tragic end. Sniff.

For a brief time just a couple years ago, Ms. De Grenet was a modest, married mom who kept herself out of the public eye. Now, though, she’s separated from her husband and, according to the Italian Wikipedia, had gotten right back on the footballer horse: She’s dating Livorno defender Fabio Galante.
