Arsenal v Milan: Lucky Lucky

The Rossoneri should count their lucky stars they were able to take a stalemate from the Emirates back to Milan tonight. Emmanuel Adebayor missed the sitter of all sitters in the dying seconds by heading a ball off the woodwork when he had a full goal open from within the 6 yard box. Aside from that, the Gunners and their hella dynamic outfit really pressed the boys in black & red.

Zeljko Kalac was immense in goal, and his positioning was hugely solid throughout, forcing the saves to be easy. The rest of the team was hit or miss. The Champions League Guy, Clarence Seedorf, spent way too much time defending in his own half. The Other Champions League Guy, Kaka, was pretty much a nonfactor and didn’t have his first shot late into the game, which did nothing but go wide of the goal. Andrea Pirlo was far from what you’d expect. Not a great game for the guys who get the attack going in Milan.

The early battle was between Alessandro Nesta and Emmanuel Adebayor in a matchup of class and classier (Nesta’s better), but Sandro was taken off halfway through the second through injury. Also, the ball should seek a restraining order from Massimo Oddo any time he’s going forward. Maybe he just puts these performances on for me, but every time I see him, his ball striking is reminiscent of a jack hammer.

The Quacker was decent in his CL debut, and went down late in the game with what seemed to be a cramp. Then, once Arsenal players started yapping at him because he’d forced them to play a break out of bounds, the injury got worse and he was stretchered off. Suffice it to say….Milan fans shouldn’t be worried. Alberto Gilardino came on for Pato, along with his extraterrestrial mullet in the infancy stage, and wasn’t any big help.

So I’m sure both coaches will begrudgingly admit they’ll take the nil-nil draw, but both would’ve liked to have achieved better. Now it’s up to the Rossoneri to take a win at the San Siro in two weeks….and yes, barring penos, that means they need to score a goal or two.

    About Oddo and his shot…
When a player has a shot right around the box and BLASTS it, that’s how you know they’re a true defender!

All in all not a very satisfying game for me, Kalac was really amazing, if Dida was in goal, I think we would have lost by 3 or 4. I would have done a lot of things to have scored that all important away goal, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens at the San Siro…

Ahhh, apparently the EPL goon squad have sent a silver tongued ambassador. Always showing class and a thrilling vocabulary, the GS of the EPL. Nice to see the standards remain quite in place.

Actually, Arsenal attacking force was pretty much under control until Nesta got injured. Most Arsenal dangerous opportunities involved Adebayor and Nesta (with his intelligence and technique) seems the only Milan players who can handle him well. Adebayor is physically too strong for Kaladze (probably Milan’s strongest player) and he is also too fast for the old Maldini. Hope that Nesta is available for the second leg otherwise Milan will have to reorganize the defence.

    Milan are shit?
    That’s why we’ve got 7 CL championships?
Are one of the top clubs in our nation?
Have one the club world cup multiple times?
    Riiiiiiiight.
Oh, if only Inzaghi had been subbed in instead of Gila, he would have put two away in the 88th and 89th against your stupid gooners.
    FORZA MILAN!
    MILAN CAMPIONE!
    FORZA MILAN IL MILAN OLE!
FORZE MILAN LA SUD E’ CON TE, ALE ALE!
    ALE ALE!

I correct myself, we’ve only won the CLWC once.

But did I mention our 5 Super Cup wins as well?
