I’m Sorry, What?
By: Martha | December 8th, 2006
Don’t start counting that fourth World Cup just yet, friends — two groups of fans appeared in a French court yesterday, insisting that the World Cup Final should be replayed. I’ll just pause for a second to allow you to fully digest the mind-blowing idiocy of the very concept.
Ok, moving on. Apparently these groups (You can tell they’re unbiased and pure by their names: World Cup 2006 Justice and The National Action Group for Truth in the World Cup Final 2006. Did you just throw up a little in your mouth? Me too.) believe Zidane was sent off illegally, because the fourth official (in their addled minds, anyway) couldn’t possible have seen the headbutt and therefore video evidence must have been utilized to see the offense — in violation of FIFA rules. Oh, they’ve got FIFA there! I’m sure the court will instantly order a replay and that it’ll happen right quick. Ahem.
Meanwhile, perhaps they can spend some time preparing another suit, this one claiming it was illegal for Zidane to do something so stupid, and therefore the headbutt didn’t actually happen. I’m sure that one will be embraced by the legal system as well.

Can anyone really be surprised that French people would act so ridiculously. And, as if the video replay shoould not be utilized. Its like, “well he pulled a major dick move but seeing as how one official had his back turned, he can’t get thrown out”. Please.
