Hide the Women and Children, Bobo is on the Move!

By: Martha | June 21st, 2007

Well hel-lo Bob.As all of Italy tries to recover from its massive drama hangover (thank you Suazo, Chivu, and co-ownership frenzy), the big news is of the release of an old, underpaid playboy: Christian Vieri has been let go by Atalanta, a club with whom he had a one-year contract paying him the league minimum (albeit with substantial bonus pay for each goal).

While this news would be very sad if it meant Bobo’s career was at an end, talk over the past two weeks has suggested there’s interested in him elsewhere, so it would be shocking if he decided to hang up his boots rather than just moving on. Personally, I’m feeling a little extra giddy this morning, because Vieri’s official availability means I can continue to entertain the fantasy (Minds out of the gutter, people! I’m talking about football here. Well, mostly.) of him turning up in Sicily come August, a burly, pink-clad target striker surrounded by speedy South Americans.

We know new Palermo coach Stefano Colantuono values him and that Bobo will come cheap (that’s what she said), and it sure wouldn’t hurt the Rosanero to have an old school target man to throw on periodically, even if he is 33 years old. (Sorry, Chris, I know I’m breaking your Bobo-lovin’ heart here.) It’s still a pipe dream, but his release at least makes a move to Palermo possible — and, hey, the idea is so crazy, it might just be right up Maurizio Zamparini’s alley!

If Zamparini is smart (which i seriously doubt, but let’s assume ‘if’) he gives Bobo a prestation-based contract. If he scores twenty goals, fantastic, if he scores 2, just as great: we’ll be havin’ a fantastic time with Bobo. And just look at him: where else than in Sicily (or Iraq) would Bobo’s womanizing and agressive character fit in better?

Would also bring more women to the Barbera, which is never a bad thing.

    That picture. SO. AWESOME.

[Oh comeon, Bobo, go to Roma! Then we can all watch you and Totters trying to squeeze your egos into one tiny football stadium. Wait, why does such an innocuous-sarcastic remark sound bad when Bobo's involved?]

Whenever I see any version of the name “Bobo” or “Vieri” in your titles, I know I need to stop by for the visual feast.

Thanks for not sending me away hungry. ;-)

Laurie, I feel like I need to take a shower after reading your comment. I don’t know why.

If Bobo goes to Rome I’m nixing my life’s goals and dreams and moving to the world capital and shadowing Bobo everywhere he goes. There could be an entire section of the offside dedicated to Bobo.

Chris, it is NOT my fault. Blame Martha for her obsession with Sporn (sports porn — yes, it’s an actual academic-type term.) Because heaven knows all MY photos are pristine and innocent.

Martha, I thought there is no “posting of Manekedness” rule on Thursday in play. What gives?

Roswitha, isn’t it great? What I like most is the suggestive cropping — those Italian parparazzi know their shit.

Muddia, there are no rules when it comes to Bobo. Surely you know that.

And, Laurie, MY obsession? I specifically picked a porn-y picture because of your complaint last time I used a fully-clothed Bobo. Don’t make me go to the archives!

Chris, if that happens I may join you. Just so you know.

(Also, +5 to Steven for the mention of Iraq. We need to bring more current events into our conversations here.)

Luis Figo is about as cool as Robert Mugabe.

    How’s that for current events?

Oh SNAP! I’m sorry, I’m cut far too deep to properly reply. Ouch, man. Just ouch.

Yeah, I knew you weren’t going to let me get away with that one. :-)
