Dammit, Palermo. Win a Freaking Game Already.
By: Martha | December 1st, 2006
Alright, I’m officially worried: Just as Milan start to win, Palermo start to lose. Could it be that the world had (miraculously, gloriously) tilted on its axis, and has now been righted? Fingers crossed it’s just some sort of blip, but it’s hard not to be at least a little bothered by Palermo’s three-game losing streak. On their faces, the individual losses — one to a great Inter team in league, the other two in the UEFA Cup and Coppa Italia both with under-strength squads — but the overall effect is troubling. Confidence must be down, no matter what the team says, and those first hints of doubt might be sneaking into their minds about whether they really can compete with Roma and Inter over the course of a full season. Plus, the loss of di Michele (who will likely be out this weekend as well) has clearly caused problems — imagine if C*rini or Am*uri went down! (I’m hoping not actually mentioning their names and I knock on wood and throw salt over my shoulder will protect them from jinxing.) With a squad this small, things have got to be perfect for Palermo to remain a factor the rest of the way — here’s hoping perfection returns this Sunday at Parma.
