As soon as Toronto FC got started, there were rumours in the local Italian community that Bobo was headed our way. He would certainly be welcome, as Toronto has the world’s largest Italian population outside of the boot.

I’m all for Bobo in MLS. If MLS would do away with the point-less salary cap, he could form a lethal combo w/ Becks and Donovan in LA. Other than LA, I’m not sure where he would settle at. Dallas? Houston?

I honestly don’t think Bobo would struggle in the MLS. Let him go to the resting place where all old soccer players go when they’re not ready to hang it up. After all, he still has better technical skill than 75% of the players in that league. I really find it extremely difficult to stomach an MLS game.

Bobo would struggle in MLS. I realize the league has its detractors, and admit that it has a long way to go, but ont thing that is certain is that it is fast paced and physical. He’s shown a couple of flashes this year, but at this point he can’t jump over a phone book, can’t play anywhere close to 90 minutes, frequently berates teammates on the field and has consistently missed opportunities this year. And even when he’s in the game he doesn’t give a full effort. I think an MLS team signing him would be wasting money.

I’ve been a fan of Bobo for many years and have been lucky enough to see him play on a number of occasions. However, even I now think that at the age of nearly 35, he should swallow his pride and retire. I found it excrutiating watching him last Thursday, and prayed that he wouldn’t step up for a penalty cos you just knew he was going to miss. He’s given the already non-Bobo friendly media a scapegoat with which to blame and seeing him almost in tears at the end of the game was painfull to watch. I want to remember him in his hey-day for Inter and Italy, as the truely great player he once was. Thanks for the sympathetic article Francesco, but even as a fan, I would be happier not to see Bobo play again.

Francesco, what makes it even more clear is that Bobo’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and Fiorentina seem to have no intention of renewing it.

I think a move to MLS would surprise me… but a “small” club along the lines of Atalanta (the team he was on before Fiorentina) would be doable. Dunno about Napoli, they seem to be targeting Javier Saviola…
