Nakata and Kaka’s Naked, Gay Twin Make the News Day Less Boring
By: Martha | January 3rd, 2008
Things are incredibly quiet today. Where are the Shocking!Transfers? And what was Amauri’s agent doing while his client was saying he wouldn’t move this winter? Apparently Amauri has learned less than we thought about teasing.
Really, the most interesting stories in the news are two really sketchy ones. First, there are vague reports that Hide Nataka, who retired from football at an obscenely young age, might (or might not) be involved with a Japanese group that might (or might not) be considering buying struggling Perugia (now in Serie C1), the first Italian club with which Nakata played. Since the story comes from one of those dangerous, unsourced Tribal Football posts, and is reproduced by C4 with a reference only to “sources on the peninsula,” it’s probably dubious at best, but it is intriguing. Nakata seems to consider himself destined for a life outside football (and not, one hopes, just hanging around fashion shows), but he does have a history of providing financial support to clubs that have helped him: When he was playing with Roma, he actually sponsored Hiratsuka Bellmare — the club he played for in Japan — when they fell into dire financial straits shortly after his departure, so it’s not as outlandish as the typical, quote-less pieces in Tribal football.
The second “interesting” story is mostly just funny: A gay magazine in Brazil is apparently planning to run a nude picture of a guy who vaguely resembles Kaka (if you squint), and The Great One has resolved to sue their asses if they put his name anywhere near the issue. (Not, I’m sure, because of any sort of gay terror, but more because Jesus probably wouldn’t approve.) You know you’ve made it when people get their bits photographed just because they sorta look like you.
[Thanks to Lem for the Hiratsuka Bellmare background.]
