ZOMG Kaka’s Going to Paris!

Usually, La Gazzetta only report on footballer holidays over the summer, when there’s not much going on and they can do some paparazzi-style stalking. Today, though, they’re making an exception, reporting on Ricky Kaka’s travel plans — and it’s not (only) because they’re obsessed with him.
Kaka, you see, is (allegedly) planning to visit the Eiffel Tower — which, as you may have heard, is in Paris — this weekend. It just so happens that, come Sunday, Paris will also play host to the France Football awards banquet at which the Golden Ball will be awarded. Curiouser and curiouser! (How great would be it, though, if Kaka was just going along to, say, support his boy Ronaldo, or something? Oh, the chagrin of the Italian press.)
Oddly, the report of Kaka’s weekend plans apparently comes from the Vice-Mayor of Paris, who got a phone call about arranging a personal Eiffel Tower tour for a young Brazilian and, it seems, turned right around and called a French tabloid with the news. I mean, what is that? First of all, that’s what the Vice-Mayor of Paris does? Arrange for posh tourists to visit landmarks? Really? Was he elected to that job? Because, seriously, it sounds like he’s a glorified secretary. And, second, does he usually call the press the moment he gets off the phone with a celeb? Elected or not, that’s no way to hold on to a job — if he did that to Courtney Love, she’s kick his cheese-eating, surrender-monkey ass. Hmm. Or perhaps sweet Ricky actually asked him to leak it, because he likes the attention? Naw, never mind. Forget I brought that up.

I think Jean Bernard Bros got contacted in virtue of his company-managing-the-Eiffel-Tower president title, not the vice-mayor thingy.
Also, remember the news was leaked to Le Parisien by a secret source, which can mean one of two things:
1) It’s a load of crap and the vice-mayor’s got better things to do
2) The news truly comes from Jean Bernard Bros, but Kaka know nothing about it. That is, this is just a publicity stunt to promote that oh-so-great monument that is the Eiffel Tower, the city of Paris, the French people who are such good architects etc. etc.The latter wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
Which brings me to a greater question: what’s the matter Martha? You running out of interesting news to report? :P

Marco, you know CL matchdays are short on news — that’s by FAR the most fascinating thing going on today! Even C4 is launching into hyperbole more usual in search of interesting things to say.
(And if the reason is the latter, that’s all kinds of sad. They really think the Eiffel Tower still needs to be pimped?)

What about the current man of the moment – Christian Panucci – splitting up from his girlfriend Rosaria Cannavo because she’s done “one of those calendars” … nudge, nudge, wink, wink. More fodder for WAG of the week Martha!!!! Didn’t Bobo split with Elisabetta for the same reason. Hhmmmmm???
