Inter v Empoli: Nerazzurri Kids Everywhere!

By: Martha | April 29th, 2007

WOO HOO!What a weird freaking game this was. Because of the celebratory atmosphere, it felt more like a tribute match than an actual, competitive game that mattered a lot to at least one of the teams involved. I mean, I know people were playing hard and all, but when the pre-match, starting 11 photo is full of children wearing Inter shirts — the littlest ones in the arms of their fathers — it’s going to be hard to see the game as a blood feud.

Even after the kids left the pitch, the vaguely carnival atmosphere remained and, really, I felt sort of bad for Empoli. They need the points and were trying to focus and get them, while Inter were running around thinking about the Scudetto and their families and beer — really, it was totally unfair. And then, when Recoba — Recoba, of all people! The man every single fan in the place was saying “Oh, I hope he scores!” about. — put Inter back into the lead with a poorly/cleverly struck corner, Empoli may as well have gone home, because the party was back. Hell, had Figo managed to finish when he was in alone on on the keeper (sigh), they probably would have called the game off and spend the next 20 minutes having a pre-party.

As it was, Inter coasted to a 3-1 win, the kids came back out on the pitch and the party resumed. (A warning to all ye who despise Matrix: Do not watch any of the festivities surrounding this game, because once you see him with his kids, you will never be able to hate again.)

Edit: Slight kidpic overload after the jump. Matrix and Inter haters, you’ve been warned.

Inter dads

All belong to Matrix.
(Those of you who don’t follow Inter might not be aware of this, but 90% of the kids in the above picture belong to Matrix. Seriously. He’s wildly fertile.)

Seriously, I think like 90% of these are Matrix's.

Figo! Matrix! Kids!

If you can resist this one, you’re made of stone. STONE!

You beat me again. How do you do that?

That corner from El Chino was pure genius, thank you very much. Too bad he didn’t convert those other opportunities. I know I sound biased, but the man was everywhere. He rocked.

Figo’s miss was embarassing. I know it is horrible from me, but I felt kinda glad. He was looking ever more bitter and smug-ly than usual. Did he forget how to smile?

I already voiced my opinion on the Deki goal, so I’ll just shut up now.

Cruz and Recoba in the starting eleven. Eeeeee. ♥.

Oh, and how dedicated Dacourt was? He was going all John Terry on everyone’s asses. Too bad he’s not built like JT - Olivier picked up quite a few knocks there.

If I’m honest, Figo just made me sad today. Apart from the HORRIBLE MISS he played well, but he is so clearly not part of all the silly team stuff that it depresses me for him. Yes, I know. I think about it too much.

Oh, fine. If you find me some Matrix-and-kids pictures, I’ll look at them. (How far have I progressed in nine or ten months?)

Maxrix with kids is to cute! Yea I think about 4 of those kids are his! I never could hate him for some reason even tough I’m a Milan fan. His little girl has grown. She was a bald baby at the world cup.

Materazzi’s got (only?) 3 kids. Just like Figo and Recoba (and presumably Cruz). Deki Stankovic on the other hand, has four. And Sinisa Mihajlovic has six. Six as in, more than five. 6. So I guess Mancini’s wingman assisstant manager wins the fertility competition hands-down. Which is bad, since he is far more despicable than Materazzi. And uglier too.
And the rest of Inter has two-three kids in average. Well, except for Zanetti (and Burdisso?).

*sigh* Why do I know these things?

Pasha, are you sure there are only three?! I could have sworn there were at least four, but I bow to your as the Inter authority (maybe he was borrowing one of four of Mihajlovic’s in the pic I saw).
