Inter v Milan: Thank God That’s Over
By: Martha | December 23rd, 2007
Ok, I’ve tried for a half hour to get something down about this match, and I just can’t do it, I’m sorry. I think I was too lost in how nervous I was to perceive it in anything approach a coherent manner. To sum up: Inter won, Milan lost, Dida was rubbish. Luis Jimenez and Esteban Cambiasso were fantastic for Inter, and the last five minutes were all Milan and utterly terrifying. I’m afraid that’s the best I can do for the moment, but feel free to shout with joy or rage in the comments. (Paolo, I’m looking at you.)

mele, are you talking about Kaladze’s handball in the box? (:
[Thank you, Paolo.]

Hmmm, Francesco Totti looks like the second coming of Jesus yesterday and today we get a massive picture of Cambiasso on a goal which my 6 year old cousin could have saved. (Or the Cruz goal, but ditto for that one as well.)
Biased much?

Martha, here we go!
The real best team in the world just won their 3rd straight Derby, 6th staright League Match and 10 straight match over all.
Mele, here is a few more things you should say as well… lol:
1. Thank You referee for awarding at that free kick after a classic Inzaghi dive.
2. Thank you referee for not calling a penalty against us when the other Kaka handled the ball in the area.
3. Thank You Oddo for nothing
4. Thank You Pirlo and Nesta for keeping us in it.Great match overall though. With regards to the “Free” kick… I knew Pirlo was scoring that. I even turned away becasue I did not want to see it happen. I just listened and yelled FUCK after I heard he had scored. Great strike.
Cambiasso was massive today, and Zaneti just might possess the most class on the pitch in the world. Inter’s defense and Midfield were awesome and Ibra and Cruz just might be the best striking tandem in the world… PERIOD!
Milan threw everything they had at Inter and Inter proved they are too tough to beat. Beautifully executed by Inter defensively & well played in the Midfield. Milan are lucky they have the likes of Pirlo and Nesta or this would not have been any contest. And that is how you shut down Kaka. Dida was not the only reason you lost that game… that Cambiasso strike looked like it was heaeded to the corner and Dida bit. It stayed stright and curled just a bit to the left. Maldini’s assist was pretty nice too!
Milan did pay better than I thought they would, which makes the win that much sweeter. They tried so hard to no avail!!
FORZA NERAZZURRI!!!!!!!!

Dida gifted both goals. I swear, every time an Inter player shot anywhere towards the net, I flinched. I’ve supported him as long as possible, but that’s it, he’s so done.
I’m disappointed in both Kaka and Ibra, we just didn’t see the magic today from either of them, but total props to both defenses, amazing. Um, especially Nesta, because he’s Nesta, and anytime he beat out Ibra was pretty much the hottest thing ever.

and that is how you shut kaka’?
how? by tearing your knee apart like samueL??
dida was the difference in this game. as simple as that.

I, too, was VERY nervous. I think my favorite part of the whole game was that first run by Kaka. Our glorious captain had him stride for stride and just ran him off the field. HA HA! take that Mr. Ballon d’oro! Milan are just going to have to admit it, we play better ball than they do – even with half our team out injured. LOVELY – now I can go on and get ready for Christmas.
Still, all props were props are due: Pirlo is really, REALLY good. If only he didn’t play for the devil’s own team. So, what will Milan do next year when they haven’t even made it into the champions league?

when will Galliani and Berlusconi realize they need a new goalkeeper?
I’m convinced he’s only still there because he’s Brazilian.

no human being should ever experience the feeling i had today, the walk of shame from lo stadio to my hotel with interisti all over the city.
In my section i was surrounded by a couple of thousand interisti and only a couple of dozen milanisti, but for about 20 mins i was literally on top of the world, i was up alone and just screaming for over 10 minutes and couple of hundred interisti giving me dirty looks and the finger. my first ever “real” goal experience at the San Siro was priceless, the joy was unbelievable, but so sad it didnt last :( no words can explain how it felt…just PRICELESS. of course for the rest of the day i was soooo depressed, just repeating one thing “why god!! why!!” but thats soccer and that what makes it so special. just remembering the moment when Pirlo scored is worth the damn 600 euro ticket (original price 150 euro). from now on every penny i get ill save for the next derby, hopefully a win and we’ll have SOME DAMN SUPPORTERS!!!
the pirlo goal from my camera

More like too relieved to do anything other than drink, Marco. (:
(Francesco, there’s no doubt now, is there? Why the hell it hasn’t happened until now is beyond even me.)
Chris, had Milan won it would have been a giant picture of Pirlo. If that’s any consolation.

*cry cry cry* I can’t believe it! I hang my head in shame. Both teams played excellent Fetyani I’m at home and I feel depressed and sad so I can only imagen what you feel like. Dida get the hell out of Milan just leave please! Or else I will come down there and show you what a true sicilian can do to your sorry brazilian butt. Milan are in serious need of a goal keeper that can stand up straight and read the game right and that doesn’t need the defense to take over for him. Because if you think about it both goals cough*inter*cough made were when the rossoneri defense didn’t run to save Dida’s butt. *Puts head down in shame and underbreath says good job inter* But fo sure the ref was interista theres no other way he would have not called half the fowls on inter.

i fuckin hate dida…
the way to stop kaka is to foul him everytime he touches the ball… it works.. and i use no sarcasm whatsoever…

It was far from a classic, but then derbies rarely are.
Morganti seemed to be completely out of his depth, starting with his failure to book Gattuso for the ugly lunge in the first minute. That was just the opening mistake in a first half when he got virtually every important decision wrong. The cramps he was suffering in his legs towards the end had clearly clouded his brain much before then.
Inter desperately missed Figo’s class, the attacking options posed by Stankovic and the physical presence of either or both of Dacourt and Viera in midfield, particularly on a day when Ibrahimovic was not at his best. And we (and nearly everyone else around us in the secondo anello arancio) would have brought on Suzao much sooner; his pace was the last thing the creaking Milan defence needed at that point.
But the better team won, and Dida will be getting plenty of Christmas cards from Interisti.
Fetyani, it is madness to pay 600 euro for a derby ticket. Our season tickets cost only a bit more than half that, and you could get one in the Curva Nord for around 150 euro for the entire season. It makes sense even if you only come once a season (as was the case of quite a few of the people there today).
Anyone interested in ultra culture should be sure to read Spangly Princess’ account of the coordinated tifo strike between the two curvae (http://spanglyprincess.blogspot.com/2007/12/milan-derby.html).
BTW, I am very pleased to see partisans on both sides complimenting their opponents (Pirlo’s free kick was sublime, it is just much easier to appreciate him in azzurro). That is very much in the spirit of this derby, and one that can serve as an example to others.

this jimmy guy. what a player! i wouldnt lie, he is almost one of my favourite players now. martha, tell me if you dont agree. but doesnt cruz remind you of RVN? i think that cruz drink some ruud juice before this season started! Forza Inter!!!

First time; long time (Seem perfect timing to make my 1st post).
1st-ly: Forza Nerazzurri!!! Forza Il Capitano!!! Forza ES-TE-BAAAANN!!!
Now that is outta the way. Instant classic? No. Great Christmas present? Yes. Milan showed their class early but were visibly exhausted by the 60 min. Cruz played, so obviously he scored. And Inter did enough to pull out the 3 points. Pretty straight forward.
Feel sorry for Samuel (might have to transfer to live that down), but it didn’t feel like a real derby until Materazzi stepped onto the pitch (4 min on the pitch = 2 fouls on Kaka and a yellow).
Who needs Vieira? The midfield combo of Javier and Esteban is too classy to resist. One stands the man up and the other takes the ball off his toe. Brilliant.
The game could’ve used Suazo much sooner. Milan were beat after an hour and Suazo in the 70th could’ve brought the goal that put the game outta reach. Plus, it would’ve been nice to show Milan what they’re missing. By that I mean a striker that scores goals.
Buon Natale Interista. Buon Natale “The Offside” community. Buon Natale Nelson Dida.

Kaladze’s handball had no effect on play, it stopped the ball from going up 4 inches. What’s his face grabbed Kaka’s foot on the ground and dragged him down.
inter merda.

Right on Mele kaka’s fall wasn’t a fall of someone just falling he jerked back and then continued to fall like he was still able to run but that guy grabbed his foot!!! UGH!!!!!!!! inter merda….forza rosoneri e forza il nostro capitano!!!!!!!

excuses, excuses…. Just admit it, Inter beat Milan. It happens all the time. Milan had a couple great moments (scary moments!), but, in the end, they just could not keep up. Why do people always blame the ref? It is clear that Milan is stuffed to the gills with top-notch players, so why do they loose? It can not always be the ref. Look to your coach (and maybe your keeper).
Buon Natale

Hi all, I’m surprised nobody mentioned Serginho’s uplifting performance yesterday. Immediately after entering the game he brought some action to the left wing as (the man) Maldini was beginning to tire toward the end of the match. I’ll admit that Dida undoubtedly handed Inter the match, but nobody is even slightly annoyed that Maldini practically ‘assisted’ Cambiasso for the goal?? As soon as I watched the great Maldini head the ball toward the center of the 18 I knew he had made a grave mistake.
Funny how some of the Interisti believe they ’shut down Kaka’… Agreed, Zanetti played a flawless game, but nobody else was a match for Kaka. Cruz was the man of the match for me, Ibra was a lame duck. He was completely covered and could not get anything through the Milan defense. Pirlo was magnificent.
All in all, Inter will come out on top of the league again, they remain in absolute top form and are almost unstoppable.Posted from

Johonna I’m not saying it was all the ref. the screwing us out of that penalty was part of it, but yes, Dida really fucked us over, and I don’t have much faith in Carletto either to be honest…
-
and at Zadig, Serginho had a really good impact on the game for the first 10 minutes of his playing, after that he sort of disapeared.
-
And Inter did not shut down Kaka.
four words:
ACL, Samuel, Torn, Walter. To be honest, at this point I’d rather see Kalac in net for our next game…

Down with Dida! The last few big losses go back to him, and I don’t have any confidence in him anymore.
I think the bigger problem is in our strikers. I like Gila and I love Inzaghi, but let’s face it, except for a few flourishes, neither of them have much to show for this season (CL and Japan aside…) We need a true, consistent striker, now! (And more experienced than Pato.)
It wasn’t all one-sided, but Inter looked calmer under pressure. I think the better team won. Ugh.

To all that didn’t see the game in full and still maintain that Inter had Kaka under control please watch the vid and cry (like Samuel):

I pray for his swift recovery.
