Anyone Want a Football Club?
By: Martha | September 26th, 2007
If you act now, you can pick up an Italian football club for cheap, albeit one that’s slightly used: Serie C side Juve Stabia is up for sale on eBay, and it’s priced to move — only €515 as of about 930am EST!
Now, because this is Italy and nothing is too weird to be true, one has to wonder, at least for a second, whether the owner has just had enough and figured eBay was the best way to unload his club right quick. After all, the seller is brand new to eBay, which makes sense if he’s previous spent all of his time dumping money into a club that seems to have a tradition of going belly-up and disappearing on a regular basis. However, the team is also sitting on the bottom of C1, with only two points from five matches, which strongly suggests this sale is just the cruel work of an exasperated fan. Hmmm.
Sadly, shipping of Juve Stabia is available only within Italy, a cruel blow to those of us outside of the peninsula who have always dreamed of a giant, football club-shaped hole into which to throw all of our money. (In good news for those of you in Italy, however, shipping is only €1.50, and the club will reach you within three days. Who knew Italian mail was so efficient?)
