Cassano is Running Out of Options
By: Martha | July 12th, 2007
Antonio Cassano, your prototypical footballer with ability tragically unmatched by either brains or self-control, has reportedly turned down a chance to join Turkish champions Fenerbahce. Their £3 million bid was accepted by Real, but Cassano rejected the deal. Not for salary reasons, mind you, or because he’s allergic to kebabs or doesn’t like Istanbul (Seriously, who wouldn’t want to get paid to live there for a while?) but, rather, because he wants to stay on the market a little longer just in case someone in Italy wants him. Jeez, talk about pathetic. Isn’t that sort of like refusing to date on the off-chance your really hot ex (who you cheated on several times and then threw out of the house) has a change of heart and wants to move back in?
Though Napoli and Genoa (among others) have both been associated with Cassano over the past several weeks, he’s apparently decided to limit his options further by again declaring Roberto Mancini the only man he can play for in Italy. Why yes, that IS the same Roberto Mancini who manages Inter Milan, the team Hernan Crespo and Julio Cruz have both recently pointed is burdened with something of a crowd in the striker department. Why do you ask?
Clearly Cassano thought this out really well: He’s demanded a sale from Real Madrid, and now is in the process of making it impossible for them to get rid of him. What does he think is going to happen, exactly? I mean, barring a deadly lightning strike at Inter’s Sardinia training camp, it really doesn’t seem like they’re going to be in the market for a striker any time soon.

You know what’s funny? Remember when Cassno was sold for peanuts to Madrid and the Roma management was stoned by the media and fanbase?
Who the hell would’ve ever thought Real Madrid would LOSE money on his eventual sale? That’s ridiculous.

Do you recall last January, when Calderon was – oops, accidentally – recorded, telling college students how spoiled and stooopid football players are? While I in no way absolve the man of his own stupidity, I think I may see how Calderon’s opinions were formed. Cassano is miserable at Real and not likely to play any time soon, so why not spend a year or two with the Turkish champions? LOL.

No team is rejecting Cassano because of his talent, because when on form he’s the most talented Italian player, but because of his psychological problems.
Also a move to Turkey would rule out any chance with the national team. I can’t see Donadoni making trips to Istanbul to watch games.
And let’s not forget, I can’t see Cassano, who can barely speak normal Italian, learning to speak Turkish.

It couldn’t hurt his career more than Inter would. Even if one of Inter’s 100000 strikers were leaving I wouldn’t want to go to the club where careers go to die (Unless you are Argentine)

Does Cassano get paid for sitting there doing nothing? IF he does can I have his job?
Being a whinny little baby stompping your feet everytime something doesn’t go your way and you get paid that’s absoultly briliant why don’t we all do that?
