It’s Official: Crespo is an Inter Player. Woo Hoo!
By: Martha | May 30th, 2007
Though this is no less than what we expected after yesterday’s hopeful reports, the news is now official: Hernan Crespo is staying at Inter. Hurrah!
And not just for on year, either — as far as I can tell from Google translate, he’ll be on loan again next season, the final one in his contract with Chelsea. After that, according to his agent he plans to sign a contract with Inter that will keep him at the club until 2010. Not, you know, that Crespo stays anywhere for more than a season or two, but the thought it nice.
The Argentine has made no secret of his desperation to stay with the Nerazzurri, and his presence has given Roberto Mancini a great additional attacking option, so everyone is celebrating today. (In Italy, anyway. What Chelsea will do for attackers during the African Nations Cup is something else entirely.) Even though Crespo isn’t always first choice, he’s such a different kind of striker from the rest of Inter’s attackers that his mere presence on the bench makes the team significantly better. Did I mention woo hoo?

Umm, just in case you didn’t say it, Martha: Woo Hoo! Yay!
So is he still a Chelsea player (Inter didn’t buy him)?

Nope, didn’t buy him Nelly — still a loan. The deal he’s supposedly worked out with Inter is for after the loan ends.
