Juve News: Gigi Signs, Camo Whines (See What I Did There?)

As all of you who care already know, Gigi Buffon put an end to months of speculation yesterday when he signed an extension that will keep him at Juventus through 2012. While it’s unclear whether he would have stayed were Didier Deschamps still in charge, Buffon has been full of praise for Claudio Ranieri since the Italian’s name was first mentioned in a Juve context, and his arrival certainly didn’t hurt the club’s desperate bid to hold onto their keeper. Obviously good news for the Bianconero and their fans, many major clubs (including Milan, who have Dida but aren’t thrilled about him as a number one) had Gigi in their sights, so this deal may really set the keeper merry-go-round spinning.
In less cheery Juve news, broken record Mauro Camoranesi is still pissing and moaning about the club’s lack of respect for him and once again threatening to leave, this time for the greener pastures of Roma. (That thundering silence you hear is Juve not caring, and Roma not bothering to comment.) Over the winter it was reported that Camo — whose current contract ties him to the club through 2009 — had turned down an extension offer from the Bianconero, possibly because he though he could earn more than £1.7 million/year elsewhere. Also around that time he vented his spleen about Calciopoli and being forced to play in Serie B, telling an Argentine paper that he had agreed a move to Lyon over the summer, only to find it blocked by Juventus. Yeah yeah, Mauro. It sure sucks to be a World Cup winner, earning more money that God. Cry me a freaking river.

Hah I knew Gigi wasn’t going anywhere for all the rumors and spin. I knew our(Juve’s) number 1 was going to stay. yeah and Camo no surprise I actually expected it and thought someone would be buying him by now, along with Trez since they bitched and moaned so much last summer.
