Oddo, Tonetto…large omissions. Zaccardo for one??! Honestly…. As well, I know, but Pippo must still be on the radar. Frankly, I’m concerned for the first time in a while about the Azzurri front line. Toni and Gila?? Proven flops….sadly. Pippo while we still can!! ’till the young, Giovinco/Rossi and others…. prove themselves.

Francesco, Lippi’s interview in Italian makes Maggio’s dismissal sound a lot less categorical than what you had suggested.

Besides many players have “adapted” their club playing style to fit the needs of the Nazionale. So were I a Maggio fan, I wouldn’t worry too much…

Sure Maggio is really a wing-back, but he would be equally adept as a proper full-back! He could easily take over from Zambrotta!
