Monday is For Many! (Many Stories, That Is.)

By: Martha | May 7th, 2007

Mmm ... Coco.•The agent of annoying Palermo striker Andrea Caracciolo is once again telling people his client is leaving the club. Yeah, Mr. Agent Man, we heard him the first time — could you get him to quit talking and get walking already?

•London’s Daily Mail has decided Milan are interested in Manchester City psychopath Joey Barton. Barring a decision on the part of Adriano Galliani to secretly completely sabotage his club, this is clearly a total lie. Well, unless he wants to bring in someone to threaten/kick Ricardo Oliveira until he has the decency to leave, that is. Hmm …

•Don’t look now, but Google translate is calling Francesco Coco gay again. I think it’s just another article stemming from the blackmail story, but, really, does it matter? You can never have too much “argument gay.”

•Despite being so broken he’s on the verge of yet another knee surgery, Paolo Maldini has announced his intentions to play yet another season with Milan. While another season of God is always a good thing, one does wonder if this is wise — his body hasn’t held up at all this year; what makes him think his bones will magically knit when he’s a year older?

•Speaking of Milanese old men, Billy Costacurta has agreed to a coaching position with the club: Technically, he’ll be “second assistant coach to Ancelotti,” whatever that means. If my own coaching experience at the high school level is anything to go on (And why ever would it not be exactly the same?) he’ll spend the first several months pick up cones, filling water bottles, and handing out training gear. Which can be very rewarding in its own way.

•I didn’t report this last week because it’s bound to change based on various promotion/relegation/point-docking lawsuits, but as of right now the 2007-2008 Serie A season is set to kick off the weekend of August 25-26.

•Inter are reportedly once again in the hunt for Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma, just the latest in the line of alleged replacements for the departing (sniff, sniff) Luis Figo. And Quaresma is definitely Portuguese, so there is that.

I fail to understand why ANY club would be interested in Joey Barton. The man is just way more potential trouble than he’s worth to a team.

I think a fitting end for Maldini would be to get fit and win the CL final. Why not go out with that? I mean, sure it wasn’t the best Milan season, considering the high standards of the club, but it might be nice to be able to walk around and play with your kids in the future. The man has nothing left to prove.

Fingers and toes crossed, knocking on wood many times, I hope Maldini can play the whole match (and maybe next season)
