Nesta is Back, Nesta is Back! [Insert Squeals of Joy Here]

Those are Carlo Ancelotti’s squeals of joy, by the way. Who did you think, those of millions of smitten women? Come now, this is terribly serious business. No, really.

Ancelotti is so desperate for a fit, available (nudge nudge) defender at this point that he’s actually squeeing over the return of Alessandro Nesta to Italy. It’ll be a while yet before he regains his fitness but, hey, at least he’s finally back from Florida, and will presumably be turning up at the training ground on a regular basis. So WOO HOO! to that, at least.

According to Nesta, he expects to be fully fit in about three weeks, but he wants us all to know not only that he watched all the team’s game on TV while he was gone (What channel was that, then, Sandro?), but also that his shoulder is completely fine now (thanks to all that Miami sunshine, obviously). The three week time-frame is not a firm one, just Nesta’s guess as to when he’ll be back to his playing speed and, one assumes, fully confident. However, given the defender crisis in Milan, who knows — things are so grim that he just might find himself wandering around the pitch tomorrow at Palermo. Hey, he’s a body, right? A huffing, puffing, unfit one, granted, but beggars can’t be choosers.
