Oh, to Have a Spare Pile of Money
By: Martha | December 6th, 2007
Because they’re all good people (despite the beatings and in-fighting) a bunch of Serie A teams have come together to support ACDM, a foundation that works to facilitate the integration of kids with Downs Syndrome into Italian society.
Being so famous all they have to do is wear and or/write their name on something to make people want it, a lot of players have contributed by donating game-worn and autographed gear to be auctioned off, with the proceeds, obviously, going to ACDM. According to bidders so far, the pick of the litter is, oddly, Esteban Cambiasso’s game-worn Inter v CSKA Moscow Champions League jersey. At €271 with less than 24 hours left, he’s smoking the competition, though an autographed Luis Figo shirt from the 2006-2007 Champions League is also over €200. And, no, the bidder is NOT me.
You can also pick up a jersey worn by Angelo Peruzzi during Lazio’s Scudetto-winning season for a mere €181, and an Amauri shirt for cheap — it’s listed at only €81, with about 20 hours to go! (Or Adriano’s shoes, if you’re into that sort of thing.)
Just added is a signed and Simone Perrotta jersey from 2006-2007, which is already at €100 with almost four day to go. Look out, Cambiasso.
To get over any guilt you might feel about considering a bid, remember: It’s all for the kids.
