… Or Maybe Not
By: Martha | April 8th, 2007
In the second-most predictable event of the weekend (behind only last night’s sacking), Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini announced this morning that he’s not entirely sure he’s going to fire manager Francesco Guidolin after all. Rest assured, however, that Zamp will not be spending the weekend carefully analyzing his team’s weaknesses, and considering whether or not a new coach could change things. All of that, he says, can wait until tomorrow. For the moment, his plans are as follows: “I will eat my Easter egg and then make a decision.” Brilliant.
Assuming he’s not a demented sadist who simply wants to prolong Guidolin’s suffering for as a long as possible (which, given who we’re dealing with here, is possibly not a safe assumption to make), this could be a rare sign of reason from the famously volatile Zamparini: Could it be he actually wants to take some time to think, rather than rush in and make a rash decision? [Insert wry chuckle of disbelief here.]

Honestly, I think the Easter egg may be the best Zampa quote ever.

When the guy’s not your boss, his insanity is sort of endearing, isn’t it?

I swear, that guy who chose pink and black for this team? Genius. I’m just going to give in to the LOLing. Zen-like and all that.
