Professor Amelia
By: Martha | November 28th, 2006
The Livorno website today is reporting that Marco Amelia is not only the most sought-after goalkeeper in Italy, but also something of an academic. No, really. After giving up two goals in Sunday’s draw with Reggina, Amelia wandered over to the University of Pisa and held forth on journalism and communications before a class of over 100 students. Why he was qualified for such a thing is anyone’s guess — perhaps appearing in La Gazzetta dello Sport on a regular basis makes one an expert on the media.
As far as I can tell, the main insights he offered were a)that the writers of articles are as important as those featured therein when it comes to determining content (you don’t say!), and b)Maccabi Haifa (tomorrow’s UEFA Cup opponent) run a lot and “have of the players of good technical value.”
See? That’s why mom and dad pay big bucks for that college education.
