Ronaldo: It is Accomplished

By: Martha | January 30th, 2007

El Gordo RonaldoAfter 24 hours of delay, during which time an impressive number of rumors — ranging from Ronaldo going to MLS instead to Cassano heading to Milan — arose, the Ronaldo-to-Milan deal has finally been made official. Instead of agreeing to the high feel Real were demanding for El Gordo, Milan instead are spending about £5 million on the player and also reportedly sending Ricardo Oliveira the other way on loan.

While the cynics among us (What? Quit looking at me.) would suggest this deal amounts simply to the exchange of two useless lumps of Brazilian flesh, optimists will be hoping that both men will be buoyed by a new environment and rediscover their formerly impressive scoring touches. It would certainly be nice to see Ronaldo rolling around tearing up Italian defenses again (and, as a bonus, it would infuriate Massimo Moratti), and Real would die of joy to get a little creativity up front. Plus, given the success he had at Real Betis last year, Oliveira could well perk up when he finds himself back in Spain.

I cannot wait for the March 11th Milano Derby. The Meazza will be going crazy! Especially since its considered Inter’s Home game.
