Rossi’s Agent Beats the Bushes [Insert W Joke Here] for Offers

I’m Giuseppe Rossi and I have no friends! According to an interview his agent gave Radio Kiss Kiss (only in Italy could that be the name of a freaking radio station) earlier today, Parma remain the only team to have tabled an official offer from Man United’s Guiseppe Rossi. While said agent innocently pretended he was just conveying information, he’s clearly trying to get all the teams whose names have been associated with his client — currently off enjoying some special, U-21 team time off while his Man U teammates brave storms and earthquakes in Japan — to come in with offers, preferably really, really big ones that will make him some coin.

If agent di Rossi is telling the truth, all the stories about the masses of clubs eager for the Jersey boy’s services have been just that and, despite having strikers to spare, one wonders if Man U will sell the kid if only a club of Parma’s size (and presumably limited finances) are offering to buy him. Another loan deal* might be more likely, perhaps with an option to make a costly purchase at the end of the season. It’s certainly not in Man U’s interest to let a kid with that kind of potential go cheap, even if they do have a bit of a traffic jam in attack.

*Speaking of rumors, one English paper has decided Porto, of all teams, want Rossi on loan. ~~Where that came from I have no idea, which means he’ll probably be there by the end of the week.~~ As the very patient Chris has pointed out several times in the comments, as part of the deal for Anderson Porto got rights of first refusal on Rossi. Hence their semi-sudden appearance in this saga.

HA! Sorry. It was the "we" and the "Adriano" references in such close proximity that deceived me. I sort of apologize, but not really. (And you're still welcome, I guess. You'll find the Inter fans here are disappointingly polite and friendly, at least according to Chris who wants us to fight.)

Speaking of Adriano, have you seen the latest training pics? Suffice to say his big bones have moved directly to his gut. Things are not looking good.

It was supposed to be Porto having first refusal on a specific list of ManU players, including Rossi, Pique and the like, for loan/sale.

"However, Juve could face competition from Porto, who have the first option on any players leaving Old Trafford on loan after the sale of Anderson to United."

Obviously it's complicated. Search around most sights will report on it, but it's hard to find something reporting the details. But I'm 99% sure it's for loan & sale for the, uh, 'surplus to requirements.'

Hmm. You could be right, K -- as you can see from the comments above, I'm very unclear on what exactly Porto get. If you've got a link to an article that you think can sort me out, please pass it along!

hmm.. i was under the impression that porto only had that deal regarding loan but not sale...

Rossi will definitely be sold. Currently all Man Utd players are in Japan except for the injured ones, the Copa America ones (Anderson, Heinze) and Rossi and Richardson who Man Utd say are resting because they played in the U21 tournament, yet Nani, who played in the playoff vs. Italy U21 is in Japan. Richardson is rumored to sign with Sunderland over the next few days, and Rossi is as good as gone, especially if Tevez arrives.

That part is always tricky, and I don't really know. But I'd assume there is a strict clause in the language of Anderson's contract which dictates the terms of loan v sale transactions.

I'd assume if ManU prefers to loan him out, Porto will get him - provided he doesn't pull a Chivu.

If it's a sale I'd guess Porto will need to match the fee proposed by club C.

If a team offers to buy him, can they step in and take him on loan, or do they have to match whatever the offer on the table is?

Porto gets first-refusal on all ManU transfers out because of the Anderson deal, so Porto will have to refuse him for him to go anywhere.

You know I've been telling you this for like a month whenever the Rossi rumors come up but you just look right past my comments.
