Sheva Rumors, Installment #19

By: Martha | May 22nd, 2007

I <3 ChelseaYesterday, the press were full of breathless second-hand reports — from former Milan teammate Kakha Kaladze — of Andriy Shevchenko’s misery at Chelsea. Though he’s been hiding his distress incredibly well from the public (*cough*), Sheva has evidently been confiding in the Georgian, telling him how “not helpful” his teammates have been since he arrived in London, and apparently whining about The Special One, as well. From all of that, Kaladze extrapolated that the striker would be on his on his way, Saying “[I] don’t think he wants to stay after a season like that and after the way the coach has behaved towards him.”

And, this morning, The Sun was on top of the latest, telling us Milan reps will be meeting with Sheva himself in Athens today to discuss personal terms ahead of a possible deal with Chelsea. Though the striker cost the London club over £30 million, the tabloid indicates he’s been given permission to leave, and is suggesting — though Peter Kenyon of course denies the whole thing — that Chelsea would let him go for only £12 million. Well, £12 million plus one Kakha Kaladze, anyway. (Oh, the irony! If this happens I guess Sheva can tell the press how unhappy Kaladze is, rather than the other way around.)

Well. Sounds good to me. My only question is whether we can find a loophole in that whole cup-tied rule and get this done by, say, Wednesday morning, because it’d sure be nice to have Sheva back in red and black by about this time tomorrow.

I’d be all for bypassing the cup-tied rule because all we’d have to do is start Dudek. Sheva’d be traumatized.

More rumors: I heard (on TV, no doubt)that Sheva would head for the MLS. Apparently, there have been talks. But I haven’t looked this up online yet, so it’s anybody’s guess.

Nelly I read that the other day, too, but I can’t recall where — it was totally unsourced, on some website somewhere (far less reliable than THIS one, obviously). God, I don’t even want to think about how great that would be, if only for selfish reasons …

Martha about the Sheva coming to the MLS thing it was at SI.com and I really don’t take to much stalk in what they have to say. since they reported a story about Zambrotta but the source was tribal football.com so not really reliable. but he didn’t say he was moving to the MLS just that he thought it wold be nice to play there in the future. because Chelsea did come to the States last summer and they played against the MLS All Stars (here in Chicago at Toyota Park) and lost, LOL.
