Things Suddenly Look Much Darker in Palermo

By: Martha | January 4th, 2007

Wearing the wrong color.A moment of silence, please, for Palermo’s barely breathing title aspirations: The scan of Amauri’s knee today returned the worst possible results, and he’ll be out at least four months, maybe for rest of the season depending on how quickly he can come back from the surgery. Perhaps the club will wear their black kits in every game for the second half, as a sign of mourning?

Though they still have a fighting chance at Champions League, staying in the third or fourth slot without their most productive striker will be a massive challenge for Palermo, even with Caracciolo ready to step into the team. If you have a striker you’re thinking of pimping in Sicily, though, think again: Club president Maurizio Zamparini ain’t buying shit (he’s mostly just grumpy — not so much with the practical),even if you threaten him with livestock heads.
