Time To Steel Yourselves For More Eto’o Talk
By: Martha | June 12th, 2007
Things have been quiet on the Eto’o-to-Milan front for the last week or so but, sadly, the blissful quiet is about to end: Media all over are reporting that Adriano Galliani will be in Barcelona next Monday to meet with club officials and try to score Milan a little Cameroonian action.
According to reports, Milan plan to offer Barca €40 million for Eto’o’s (Look at all those apostrophes!) services, and then will turn around and give the striker about €6 million/year for six freaking years, an amount so small to a club like Milan that it’s sometimes left in the couch cushions when Silvio Berlusconi stands up. In addition to Eto’o, Galliani will allegedly ask after both Edmilson (A self-proclaimed “born winner” — how could you say no to that?) and the pleasingly young Thiago Motta.
At this point, the media make it sounds like Eto’o leaving Barca would not be surprising — it was suggested last week that if they don’t win the La Liga title, he’ll definitely bail — but his arrival in Milan is no one way a foregone conclusion. Depending on who you read, Liverpool are probably interested as, almost inevitably, are the ever-present Manchester United. One thing’s for sure, though — wherever he ends up, both Eto’o and Barca will get a fantastic payday out of the deal.
