Who Knew Vieri Liked Boy Bands?
By: Martha | March 5th, 2007
Over the past few weeks, both Paolo Maldini and Christian Vieri created celebrity playlists for iTunes Italia.* As you might expect, they offer loads of insight into the inner-most souls of the lads (as do all of our music tastes — I will never, for example, tell anyone how much I love Take That). Wel, either that or they let us see what kind of music Bobo and Maldini want us to think they listen to.
Between the two of them, Maldini does the best job of pretending to be hip by including Beyonce, Christina Aguilera (albeit because she reminds him of Aretha Franklin), Black-Eyed Peas (’Pump It,’ no less) and John Meyer in his playlist. He also mentions some chick named Ayo, who he listens to on his iPod all the time, and an Italian artist named Bebe, whose boring-ass song ‘Malo’ he claims is the most-played in the Milan dressing room. (More than anything else, this makes me wonder about the team’s taste.)
Bobo, for his part, seems to go more for honesty than image, as evidenced by the proud inclusion of a Backstreet Boys song — And a new one, at that. Who listens to new Backstreet Boys? — on his playlist. Yep, that’s right: He’s a teenage girl at heart and doesn’t care who knows it. In addition, he’s got a little Ricky Martin on there (Sure, it’s ‘Cup of Life’ and he pretends it about football but, really, we all know he just loves Ricky.), as well as some Oasis, John Legend (”The new Stevie Wonder”) and Kasabian. The piece de resistance, though, is ‘Horny as a Dandy,’ a Dandy Warhols/Mousse T mash-up that, he says, “Literally makes me to drive crazy.” Oooh, Bobo! Do tell.
*Since I can’t sign in there, I don’t seem to be able to send the link to friends. BUT, if you go to the Italia store and click “Celebrity Playlist” on the left, you can find them quite easily, and even listen to samples of crap like Bebe.
