Would You Buy Used Lobster From This Man?
By: Martha | December 29th, 2006
You know it’s a slow news day when a story about Rino Gattuso and crayfish is a)written, and b)reported on in detail here. There’s very little going on in Italian football news today — and even less, apparently, happening in Scotland. And, since neither Gattuso nor Rangers fans have ever really gotten over their short, passionate love affair, he’s clearly the man to write about during the news-free holidays (me, I have no excuse).
Today’s exciting piece of Rino information involves his post-football plans: Apparently he has a real passion for all things shellfish, and he and his father recently started a business breeding, cleaning and selling the fruit of the sea in Corigliano Calabro, the town from which the family hails. So far, it’s mostly dad’s gig — he’s working fulltime with the mussels, while junior has footed the entire £2.5million bill. There’s no word on if, once he retires, Rino will actually go and wrangle lobsters himself, but he is firmly committed to bringing money into southern Italy, having already funded a children’s charity and paid for the creation of a senior center in his hometown. So, to review, Gattuso is even cooler than we previously suspected.

You know what I love about you, Martha? You can post a picture of a guy with no shoes and no pants without any explanation.
Just another day in the life of Italian football.
Giggle.
