A Roundup of the Holiday Odds and Ends
By: Martha | December 27th, 2006
•Francesco Totti, whose current contract doesn’t run out until 2011, is already talking about a three year extension which would see him ending his career at Roma in 2014. After that? He’d like to stay with the club that made him the man he is — playing elsewhere, he says, he would not have been “Totti.” (That sounds so nice even after Google has translated it that it must sound incredibly gracious in the original Italian.) He won’t, however, ever be a trainer, because he lacks “the baddness” for that gig.* In case you were wondering.
•Speaking of Totti, Michel Platini is totally sorry for talking smack about him — it was all good fun between world-class number 10s, don’t you know. And it’s surely just a coincidence that Platini stopped ripping Totti for taking an international break and started chuckling days after the latter angrily dedicated two goals to Platini after yet another storming performance.
•Despite Sevilla’s (and, recently, Milan’s) most fervent wishes, Fiorentina insist that Tomas Ujfalusi is officially not for sale. At least not right now — come June, though, they might be persuaded to talk.
•Thanks to his heartless bosses, Zdenek Zeman had the worst Christmas ever after being sacked by Lecce on December 24. Worrying not in the least about the poor Zeman family, the club turned right around and hired Giuseppe Papadopulo to take his place; Papadopulo, who was sacked by Palermo over the summer after taking them to a UEFA Cup spot, will officially take the reigns of the strugglers tomorrow.
*”Baddness” is Google’s translation of “cattiveria,” I think. Italian speakers? Little help here?

I think that “cattiveria” would be more accurately translated as “nastiness”… Given the context I would assume a more fitting word to use would be “ruthlessness”.
Hope that helps!
SamP.S - feel free to chuck any more dubious italian my way, makes a nice change from the day job!
