And So it Begins: Everyone At Chelsea Coming to Italy?
By: Martha | September 21st, 2007
In addition to the desperate, wishful writing — by people other than me –about Jose Mourinho himself making the move to Italy, the press (particularly in England) are full of stories right now strongly suggesting that The Special One’s favorites will leave the club as soon as the winter transfer window opens, with Italy as a likely destination (allegedly).
Primary among those favorites are Didier Drogba (who supposedly responded to Mourinho’s departure by falling to the turf at the Chelsea training ground, weeping and moaning) and Frank Lampard, the latter of which was rumored to a Juve target all summer, as his contract negotiations dragged on. Now, though, the press are claiming he’ll move to the blue side of Milan, joining Inter — but only if Mourinho was there as well. Impressive. He may not have wept and rended his clothing at the news, but moving with a manager is an impressive sign of devotion. (Of course, since the press also thought he was going to follow Claudio Ranieri to Juve, this may just be more teasing than anything else.)
Drogba, meanwhile, has long been on Milan’s lengthy Players With Big Names Who We Want to Sign list, and the departure of his beloved Jose might be just the thing that frees him up to make that move. After all, Drogba was flirting with Milan this summer, and Mourinho was still there — particularly given that the striker is getting up there in years, this could be a risky match made in heaven. It might, however, have to wait until the summer, since Chelsea need goals as badly as Milan do right now and would be unlikely to let him go quite yet.

Of course, the problem with buying Drogba is that we have made it a point of honor to never buy anyone who is not either over 30 or Brazilian. Preferably both.
So hey, that means he’ll qualify next summer!

I like your links, Martha! It shows that you have legitimate sources, and did not make it all up (not that anyone would, of course)
