Milan Take On The Gunners
By: chris | February 20th, 2008First of all, a sigh of relief for all the Rossoneri faithful: Zeljko Kalac will be playing. (The fact that Kalac playing requires a sigh of relief is kinda funny, you’ve got to admit.) Which means Valerio Fiore, he of two appearances with the club in eight years, will only be on the bench, not in front of Arsene Wenger’s joga bonito-inclined toddlers.
And the second sigh of relief: Andriy Shevchenko visited the club last night, according to the official website. Presumably so he could touch palms with everyone and recreate that golden orb from his time with the club. So that’s good juju going in.
The Quacker may also play, which looks to be a game time decision. So after getting Kaka and Ivan The Freaking Lunatic (it’s a term of endearment) back, Milan looks to be pretty much at full strength for the Emirates. And of course, there’s alway Pippo, who dusts off the booties and comes out of his deep slumber for Champions League fixtures. (I despise the man’s soul….but you still have to start him for any and all CL fixtures.)
Arsenal, as everyone probably knows, is at the top of the Premier League and can play some pretty pretty football on occasion. They’ve got His Cescness and Emmanuel Adebayor, who has been bagging goals ad nauseam as of late (actually, ad nauseam doesn’t even begin to describe it). And they’ll surely have a bitter taste in their mouths after the 4-0 spanking from the Mancs over the weekend. Good football + hurt pride = danger.
However, if you’re a betting man or woman, this one’s easy: Don’t even dare to bet against Clarence Seedorf in the Champions League. Ever.
