Adriano for Cassano? Well That Makes More Sense!
By: Martha | May 30th, 2007
Finally, an Adriano transfer rumor that’s at least vaguely logical! Instead of asking us to believe Arsenal would be willing to trade their resident (egotistical) saint for the striker, the press are now reporting Real might offer Antonio Cassano to Inter in exchange for the Brazilian.
This rumor first came up in February in a very vague way and now, it seems, is back with a vengeance. And it’s brilliant! Adriano is a periodically great striker who screws himself over by partying too much, ignoring the endless warnings he gets from coaches, and generally lacking any form of self-control. Cassano, meanwhile, personified troubled: He’s insanely skilled but spends more of his time pissing off his coaches, acting like a fool, partying in Rome, training alone, and whining about being mistreated. So in a lot of annoying ways, they’re the same. Plus, they’re virtually exactly the same age! In sum, Cassano is easily as much trouble for Real as Adriano is for Inter, if not more.
Why either team would want to exchange the devil they know for somebody’s else’s devil is beyond me, but at least this deal might be sort of fun. And, hey, who knows? Maybe Inter — a team, at least these days, that’s all about love — are just what Cassano needs! And fat strikers had such great luck thus season with Real and Fabio Capello (ahem); given how many chins Adriano’s currently working, that might be the perfect place for him.
[Dear God: Please, please, PLEASE let this happen -- surely Cassano's pouting and shit-disturbing will be a lot more fun to watch than the constant denials we get from Adriano. Thank you, Sir.]

I wouldn’t be too excited about the prospect of having Adriano on the squad but if you can get Cassano off our hands, then by all means do so!

This is easily the best trade rumor yet.
But Cassano in his tighty-whities? WHY?Posted from

I don’t get this one at all. IF either of these guys get their act together Adriano is a guy with a bigger upside. I don’t know what Inter is thinking.

Inter would be shooting themselves if they do this transfer. Adriano as stated above still has alot of potential. Why would they go from bad to worse? Doesn’t make sense.

Good God, Martha, I think you’re the first person I’ve ever met who’s actually WANTED that over-rated, pizza-faced goit on their team.
*claps*
Plus, if you get him, that means we don’t, right? *is always looking out for #1*

Ha — guilty as changed. BUT! I want to make it clear that I want him entirely for entertainment value. It’s nothing to do with production, or the fact that I actually want him on the pitch. Very often, anyway.

C’mon Lisa, don’t you remember that the Roma squad had their clothes ripped off after securing the Scudetto in 2001? it is too bad Cassano is so petulant; he has world-class skill, but apparently a Bush-sized brain.

My main memory of that pitch invasion (before the game was even over, you may recall) at the Olimpico is of Hide Nakata standing in the center circle with a couple other foreign players looking scared out of his mind. It was awesomely insane.
