Adriano Screwing Up Again, Or: For the Love of God, Is He Still Here?
By: Martha | June 8th, 2007
I keep thinking Adriano is gone, and then I remember: Still an Inter player, still causing trouble for the club, even when he’s on vacation. That, friends, is a rare skill.
Today, for example, he ended up in a Brazilian hospital. For “tests.” Mmm hmm. According to Andriano’s agent, the tests were simply examinations of troubling knee ligaments — and you know Adriano is always the first to take care of himself, even when the club doesn’t even know he’s doing so. No, really. Brazilian newspapers, however, are suggesting Inter’s own Party Machine is in fact suffering from pancreatitis, an affliction which could result from excessive alcohol consumption. Sigh.
Not coincidentally, Inter are reportedly trying to convince Chelsea to make a bid for the player. (Hee. Suckers!) Though the Blues at first laughed the idea off, the realization that they’ll be short of strikers during the African Nations Cup next season is apparently forcing them to reconsider, and talks will continue next week. Did I mention “suckers?”
Hmm. You know, if Inter play their cards right, this could be brilliant: They’d get rid of Adriano and free up The Special One as well. There’s no way he’d tolerate Adriano’s bullshit and would eventually quit in protest, at which point the Nerazzurri could swoop in and take him back to Milan, where he could parade his awesomely pointed evil before a more appreciative audience, and win the silverware he so richly deserves.

It certainly looks like Inter are keen to get rid of Adriano, with good reason as far as I’m concerned. Obviously the guy is loaded with skill and is potentially a top class forward (plus he’s 25), but his motivation and discipline are sorely lacking at this point. Probably what he needs is a kick in the pants to try and get his stuff together.
For that reason, he could be great if he moves on to another club. I wonder what Inter can get for him, and I also have a feeling that the right manager can get a whole hell of a lot out of him. They just might have to send him to rehab first.

Adriano in London might just save the newspaper business!

Martha, you’ll do anything to get the Special One to Inter, won’t you?

Lisa, you’re one of the few who know how deep my obsession goes. (Don’t tell, I’m trying to pretend to be dignified over here.)

“Adriano,ADRIANO! Come on, to the left. You remember the song, right? ‘Pass the Dutchie to the left hand side?’ Atta boy.”
I just implied that Adriano smokes pot. Heh.

What, tmc? Adriano’s only 25???
I really thought he was in his thirties, and he seems to have been around forever he’s so much in the news…Also, Chelsea is in the “African Nations Cup”, Martha?

Nelly: she means that Chelsea will be missing both Kalou and Drogba when the African Cup of Nations (also known as the most awkwardly scheduled tournament ever) comes around next February. They’ll still have Sheva, though, won’t they?
