All is Well in Palermo. No, Really!

By: Martha | April 9th, 2007

Really, everything is fine. What do you know! After savoring his Easter egg and taking some time to breathe yesterday, Palermo supremo Maurizio Zamparini has realized sacking Francesco Guidolin won’t solve all his team’s problems after all, so he’s decided to let the gaffer stay on. (After firing him Saturday. Bygones.) The two seem to have shared a friendly lunch (Notice the large glass of beer in the foreground.) today, and Guidolin was evidently told he and his entire staff were still in place — or, if you prefer, “all [is] normal school.”

If by “normal school” you mean “So messed up we’re all going into retreat starting Wednesday, and you won’t see or hear from us again until the weekend when we try not to get demolished by Inter.” While on retreat, the plan is for everyone with the club to “try to understand which are the evils” of the team. Because, you know, up until now they’ve just been happily coasting along. Apparently.

Also, this is neither here nor there but Google translated the last name of Palermo sporting director Rino Foschi as “Gloomy.” As in, “The president in the afternoon has spoken to the telephone with Gloomy the sport director.” Could anything be more apropos?
