Ancelotti to Gila: Don’t Let the Door Hit You on the Way Out
By: Martha | June 4th, 2007
Oh, Gila. Gila, Gila, Gila. You really ought to know better than to start talking smack — even a little — about your club when you’re at the end of a growing list of strikers. But no, you insist on opening your mouth, whining about not starting the Champions League Final (yeah, that complaint’s going to get you a LOT of traction in Milan) and telling the press you “cannot guarantee” you’ll stay with the Rosoneri. Oops.
If the response the striker was hoping for was fawning adoration and begging for loyalty, he got a nasty shock this weekend when Carlo Ancelotti pleasantly offered to help Mr. Gilardino achieve his goals of moving on — assuming, of course, that Milan can “find a valid alternative.” You know, someone like Sheva, Ronaldinho, Eto’o or, just maybe, Thierry Henry. Yeah, that’ll work.
Wherever Gila ends up — Juve and, perhaps inevitably, Inter seem the most popular in the press at the moment — it’s looking less and likely he’ll be wearing red and black next season.

He has the nerve to complain about the CL final?
Really, he dug himself into a hole, after the fans started a petition to keep him in Milan…
