Another International Leaving Juve?
By: Martha | February 20th, 2007
For the past few months, it’s been assumed that David Trezeguet and Juventus will part ways this summer. Apart from that infuriatingly lucky Frenchman, however, all the rest of the Juve transfer talk has been about players who are joining the club. (In case you’ve not been keeping track, the current number of future signees stands at 148 men.)
Today, though, that’s changed: The Italian press are reporting that belove fake Italian Mauro Camoranesi has rejected an extension offer from Juve, ostensibly because he’s not yet convinced they’ll do enough over the summer to compete for a European spot in the 2007-2008 season. In reality, though, it’s likely he just thinks he can get more than £1.7 million/year, and wants to simulteneously put the screws to Juve and shop for other offers. Really, you can’t blame the guy for being a little bitter after the club refused to let him leave last summer — he’d have to be a virtual saint to not at least test the waters elsewhere.

Infuriatingly lucky? Trezeguet? Hey, SOMEBODY has to park himself in front of the goal and tap (or deflect) that ball in!
(It’s an endless, thankless, glamorless job that’s gotta be done.)

I’m gunna have to agree with you Martha, as a follower of theoffside I do recall you saying something like he scores goals with his ass?

HA! Yes, Marcello, he does. Laurie feels the need to defend him because he’s on the French national team, but he’s the luckiest man alive. I swear I’ve seen him standing in front of the goal, chatting with a defender only to have the ball bounce off his ear and go in. It’s uncanny.

Well, all I can say is that I’m happy his luck lapsed on July 9, 2006.
