Breaking News: Kaka to Manchester City transfer almost complete

By: Francesco | January 15th, 2009

All of Italy is reporting it now. At first it was just a crazy rumor. Nobody believed that Kaka would leave Milan for Manchester City. But now it’s slowly becoming official. According to Italian press reports (including Milan Channel, Milan’s official TV station), Milan have accepted Manchester City’s 120 million euro offer for Kaka. Kaka’s father has flown to Manchester to negotiate terms and once that is complete Kaka will be a Manchester City player. Yes, you’re reading right, Kaka will become a Manchester City player. Nobody expected this, but this truly shows the power of money in modern day football. This is similar to Juventus’ sale of Zidane to Real Madrid a few years back, where they didn’t really want to get rid of him, but the offer was too good to refuse. Same scenario here. With 120 million euro, Milan can makeover their whole squad, and fix all the areas of the team that need fixing. The way I see it Kaka doesn’t want to leave Milan, but he knows 120 million can really help the club he loves and he always stated how he’s fascinated by the EPL (he speaks fluent English as well). We’ll see how this all unfolds tomorrow, but right now it’s looking like Kaka is a Manchester City player.

Depends if they spend the money as well as Juve did when they sold ZZ.

apparently Kaka is fighting with his father now, saying he doesn’t want to leave Milan, while his father is pushing him to accept Man City’s offer.

tough choice for milan and kaka here. Kaka knows he is flusing his chances of CL footy down teh drain but the moneys amazing and he knows Milan can really revitalize with it. Milan almost need to take this offer but if they had invested wisely the past 3 years or even 5 then they could laugh at City, a shame such idiots are running what used to be a prestigious club.

Seriously, with Kaka leaving the team, the average age goes up even higher…with only Pato there to hold down the fort lol.

Milan needs a makeover. They are getting old. Less Brazilians and more Italians! Buy up Cassano, Miccoli, etc..Their backline is acient definately needs a youth infusion there also.

Maybe someday someone can tell me why this is big news.

Kaka isn’t the first footballer to leave his team for a more lucrative offer. Hell, this isn’t even the first time Kaka has left a team or a country for a more lucrative offer.

He isn’t homegrown. He isn’t even Italian. In fact he spent less time with Milan than he did with his first club (I think it was Sao Paulo, but I am not really sure) in Brazil.

I mean, I understand that it’s a lot of money, but really, why is everyone so surprised? This is the way the game has been for about a century. Players move.

In fact, it’s usually Milan who takes players from other teams/countries to make big bucks in Italy. Look at Gattuso (Milan is his 4th team), Pirlo (not counting loans, Milan is his 3rd team), Pato (2nd team, 2nd country), etc, etc. Most of Milan’s players didn’t start with Milan. They all came from other teams.

So why the shock? Milan just got a dose of what they have given, like the rest of the business.

MAD- he doesn’t want to go. Milan and his dad are pushing the transfer, whereas he’s said that he wants to stay and grow old at Milan. It’s not about the money for him.

If he doesn’t want to go – and I think that’s a load of shit since he’s thinking about it- then he won’t go.

He can’t be sold- and collect the percentage- without his signature.

If it’s not about money for him, then why didn’t he stay in Brazil? Why does he collect a paycheck?

Don’t talk to me like I’m one of the mindless. This is a business and people make their bread for the rest of lives in this work. He’s thinking about it. And if he’s thinking about it, then the money matters.

He’s a big boy. He can’t be forced to do anything he doesn’t want to do.

Didn’t mean to insult you or anything. But if the management is pushing for him to leave- and they are- then why would he stay? It’s clear that he’s no longer welcome there by the club.

Most players would jump at that kind of money. I’m not sure exactly what his current pay is, but I bet you that it’s probably enough to live quite comfortably. He doesn’t seem to want more money. He wants to stay at the club that he wants to grow old at, and it’s becoming more and more clear that the management don’t want him.

Hmmmm, the unfortunate thing is that if Milan does not go through with this offer, then Kaka will most likely try to force his way out to Real Madrid come this summer’s transfer window.

If milan have to sell any player they would sell favalli, nesta, sheva, dida, ambrosini, emerson. these elders aren’t milan’s future. fabregas, agger, rakitic these are milan’s future!

soccer is at its best at the moment and Manchester city wants to buy every player they feel is good for them, hopefully this is for improving the beautifull game and not to kill the players carrie. To Kaka and all his other fans, “good luck man and all the best on what ever decision milan takes”

WOW!!! The world must be coming to an end, because I actually agreed with something MAD said!!!

I think that a lot of people are making Kaka out to be a victim of sorts. But it’s simple really; if he doesn’t want to go, then he just has to say so.

However, I do think that Milan are the main protagonists behind the move. To me, it seems like Milan are trying to make it seem like Kaka is the one who wants the move, so that when they sell him they can say, “Hey! He wanted to go! What do you want us to do?”.

“If it’s not about money for him, then why didn’t he stay in Brazil? Why does he collect a paycheck?”

Yes he left Brazil to earn a better living and better himself as a player, but that does not mean that it’s about the money for him. Besides, he makes more than enough money from sponsorship deals. So I would hardly think that “bling” is what his main motivation is. I don’t think I need to say how ridiculous the second question is.

For Milan to sell Kaka NOW would be suicide, seeing as they don’t have a ready made replacement for him. If you look back, when Milan has sold their star players they always had a player waiting to step in. When they sold Boban, Rui Costa was there. When Rui Costa was getting up there in age, Kaka came in. It allowed for a seamless transition. Now who is going to fill Kaka’s shows? Beckham? Especially now as they are realistically in with a shot at the title, I would have thought that they would have wanted to keep their best players. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. If Kaka goes, then Milan can kiss any hope of a scudetto goodbye. Further, I doubt they may even get back into the Champions League.

I don’t understand what the rush is all of a sudden though. I mean, they’ve staved off bids before, as recent as the summer. So why now all of a sudden they can’t wait to offload him? I’m sure Man City could wait until the end of the season. If they really want him then the money will still be there at season’s end. From Kaka’s end as well, season’s end would be better to gauge where Man City is going with this “project” of their’s. Why all the rush?

    Sigh…

And if Milan thinks that they are going to be able to revitalise their squad with the money, they should think again. Any player they go after is going to have their value vastly inflated (as what happened with Chelski when Abramovich) took over. I think that Berlusconi just needs the money to pay off debts. He should just say that rather than making a sherade.

    hello,
i am a new fan of yours. straight to the point, i really want to say this because i think it important. dont sell Kaka yet. lend him to M.C for 2 months then take him back. repeat this untill u you become the champion of the session. without him you can hardly win the competition. i hope this is a new pattern get success.
    happy trying.
