Cassano Moving Closer to Milan (or Not)

By: Martha | December 28th, 2006

He's got an owie.Word from Spain is that, as rumored earlier this week, Antonio Cassano will be fleeing Madrid for the red side of Milan in the next few weeks. Though the move will initially be a loan, it’s apparently understood that, assuming Cassano doesn’t piss too many people off, he will be bought by Milan for about €4.5 million over the summer. (Because, you know, now that the injured list is finally getting smaller, Milan need a little more upheaval around the club.) The only possible roadblock is that Real will undoubtedly bring up that whole Kaka thing again, but the club are reportedly so desperate to have done with Cassano that even their fervent desire to sign Kaka won’t stop the deal from going through.

Alternately, if you believe that crazy, Day of the Innocents loving paper Marca, Cassano is being shopped not in Italy but in England, where he’s tipped to bring a little more chaos to Newcastle, already the Premiership’s most dysfunctional club. Either that, or he’s going nowhere because Real love him muchly — take your pick.
