Champions League: Inter, Roma Need Some Damn Goals
By: Martha | March 6th, 2007
After the home leg’s rampaging first half, Inter could be forgiven for feeling somewhat confident going into their rematch at Valencia this afternoon, even if they are behind on away goals. Of course, given how shoddy Inter’s second half was, Valencia must be optimistic themselves — after all, a scoreless draw will put them through against one of Europe’s most in-form teams.
Additionally, Inter still have all kinds of trouble in the midfield and will again be without Patrick Vieira, though Dejan Stankovic and Olivier Dacourt are reportedly ready to go. Oh, and according to Roberto Mancini, Mr. Doghouse himself, Adriano, won’t even make the bench. (He’s hurt, not just out of favor. No, really.)
So, who’s Inter’s danger man? Well, according to Valencia’s RubĂ©n Baraja, it’s one Luis Figo who, you may recall, was fantastic in the first leg. Now that’s what I like to see — a little respect for the old man!
In the other game of the day Roma are at Lyon, trying to becomes the first away team to win there in Champions League play in five years. Yikes. Despite having a bit of a struggle in league this season, Lyon seem to be recovering their form just at the wrong time for Roma, though the Italians will have a full team for the match, with both Taddei and Doni expected to start after missing the Ascoli game. Just one little goal would do it for Roma, fingers crossed they can grab one and escape alive. I gotta admit, though, that this game scares the hell out of me.

Oh, fine, Muddia, just freakin’ rub it in, why don’t you.
Lyon’s just not playing like Lyon. They’re dominating possession, but the second Italy touches the ball, they score. Our defense kind of sucks, and our offense can’t put it in the net. Seriously. How many black jerseys did you see on our half of the field for that second goal? Like, two? But other than that, Lyon’s doing great.
Don’t count us out, though. They scored two week before last from the 89th minute on.
But still, this game is SO much better than the last one because the ref is actually allowing them to play the game. Plus everybody’s so scared of getting another yellow that they’re all engagine in their best Boy Scout behavior. Just a teensy bit of shirt tugging here and there.
One thing I never noticed before. (Which I probably shouldn’t be noticing, but hey, I’m female, okay?) Mexes has a serious booty on him! Is this recent, or has it always been this way?
