Champions League: Milan to Piss Celtic Off Further

After the first leg’s surprisingly positive, attacking match at Parkhead, Celtic are apparently wary coming into the San Siro for today’s match. They’re not afraid of losing, mind you, just afraid of getting anywhere near Gila and having him exercise his magnificent diving powers.
According to midfielder (and former Reggina man) Shunsuke Nakamura, he warned his teammates last week to stay away from the little punk because “he would go to ground easily — that’s the way he is. That’s the way all Italian strikers are. He is a good player — clever when it comes to being in and around the box, if you know what I mean.” Damn. Has Gila heard this? I can’t wait for his indignant response, and to watch his nose grow as he insists he’s never taken a dive in his life.
In addition to seeing through Gila’s tricks, Nakamura also seems to be channeling Maurizio Zamparini a bit in the build-up to this match. Late last week he told the press: “I just hope we get a strong referee who doesn’t stand for any cheating. I know from my time in Italy that it goes on.” Wait, what? People going to ground easily? In Italy! No! (And it NEVER happens anywhere else. We know.)
Actually, I think it’ll be a great match — both teams need goals so it’s likely to be a wide open affair and, despite the little Dida blunder at the weekend, Milan are feeling very good about themselves these days. Plus, Celtic are a lot less dangerous on the road than they are at home. Fingers crossed.
