Awesome, Thanks Ruby! I would think the away team would go in a stiuation like this but I wasn’t 100% sure. For some reason I was thinking extra time wiped the slate clean and we had a new 30 min game……….

Umm, yeah. Me again. Wiki seems to agree that the away goals rule would count at the end of extra time: in the Anomalies section in this entry a shootout was overturned as uneccessary in a very similar situation. Hope this helps!

Paolo, I wouldn’t like to say for certain, but I think that in the scenario you mentioned above penalties wouldn’t be necessary, as Inter would have the away goal advantage. Possibly.

I ended up giving up on Lyon and watching most of the Inter match also. Also a sad one. But the funny thing was, the announcers kept saying what a bad game it was and all I could think was how much BETTER both teams looked than Lyon and Roma! (If Vieira had been healthy, you would totally have won.) :-)

And Louise, you’re right. I don’t think Canna had enough caffeine yesterday. He kind of snoozed through the game.

Hey, sorry, I don’t want to go about this but I do have a question if anyone can help me out.

If Inter and Valencia tie the 2nd leg 2-2 (in Valencia) again and it goes into extra time and each team scores to make it 3-3 at the end of extra time, would Inter go through with more away goals or would they continue with the shootout?

DAMN IT!! My head is a little foggy, can someone explain to me what the hell I just watched? Was that Inter tying Valencia 2-2. WTF?????? What a terrible 2nd half. I was so happy after the 1st half. What did Dacourt do to conceed the the free kick that Villa scored on? He got the ball away clean. This is not good. 2 away goals. Simple math now…. INTER HAS TO WIN the next game or at least draw 3-3. I know I’m a genius! Damn, I’m not too happy though.

Wow. 11 cards in that Roma match!

And Laurie, Real-Bayern was fun to watch. (Except for Canna. Ouch.) The rest of the matches yesterday were snoozers. Doesn’t sound like it was all that much better today except the Liverpool-Barca match where Bellamy and his victim, I mean teammate Riise both scored. Anybody have a report on the Inter match?

It’s halftime in Roma-Lyon right now. 0-0, and I have NEVER seen a slower, uglier, more foul-ridden match. 33 fouls in the first half alone and more diving than the summer olympics. (The fouls are equally divided, but most of the dives are Roma’s, sorry to say, and the ref’s falling for at least half of them.) If I hadn’t just forked over $9.99 to UEFA to watch the stupid game I’d be turning off my computer right now. Both teams deserve to lose. Can we make that happen?

GRR, snarl, etc. Yesterday’s Madrid-Munich game made me cheery-happy all day because it was so beautiful. This one is The Ugly Game personified so now I’m going to be crabby all day, especially if Lyon loses. (Although they don’t deserve to win any more than Roma does.) Again, snarl.

ROMA had better be fired up for this one. Totti will notch a trick and they win 3-1. They definately were guilty of looking ahead to this game against Empoli and know they need to take care of business.
