Champions League: Super Freaking Pippo!
By: Martha | May 23rd, 2007
Holy. Crap.
Ok, so the match itself wasn’t much to write home about, but the two goals from Pippo and his reaction to the second were more than worth the price of admission. I will never say anything bad about the man again. Ever.
Away from the goals, it must be said that Milan weren’t exactly world-beaters. There were easily a dozen terrible give-aways in the midfield, Seedorf was non-existent, Jankulosvski had a shocker, and the whole thing never came together in the orderly, calm way we’ve come to expect from Milan. And, to Liverpool’s credit, their pressure caused all sorts of problems, while Jermaine Pennant was a periodically terrifying threat down the wing. Thankfully, however, the Reds weren’t on their game either, and all the chances but the last went wanting.
But, really, who cares?
Milan are champions of Europe, and Istanbul (for the moment, anyway) is finally dead.
Huzzah!

I had to run home from school today to catch the beginning of the match. Sadly though, it wasn’t really a fantastic display from Milan. They didn’t really play as well as they could have. But that doesn’t matter now! Super Pippo deflected and scored two goals! This was a fantastic way to end a personally horrible day.
Nothing cheers me up like a fantastic football win!Posted from

Not a great performance by Milan. Much below their standard in fact. Probably this is what people call as the divine intervention. Two years ago, Milan should have won the cup brilliantly. Now, Liverpool was arguably more dominant. But, the winners is not decided in a simple way in football.

Super freaking Pippo indeed.
I don’t care how unimpressive the football was, Milan won. Considering how many Liverpool flags/banners I walked past today, that’s all that matters.Posted from

hmmm…AC really were out played for most of the game. Liverpool played really well to me. Too bad they lost. I think Rafa waited wayyyyyyyy too long to take Zenden out of the game (he absolutely sucked out there!). Crouch should have come on earlier. Doesn’t matter now. AC won. Cheers to them!

Milan Champione! Nice one from Milan though they only play on the counter-attack, You can tell from the start they were going for counter-attacking since Seedorf was positioned as winger instead of striker support.
The second was a cool finish from Pippo, showed that age not just means slower pace, but can also means invaluable experience.

Milan were snuffed out in midfield, and suffered down the left wing, but they held Liverpool back from playing their game. It’s not Milan’s fault if English punditry forgot to reckon with the fact that Milan isn’t the sort of flair team that doesn’t know what to do when a team is pouring (or in Pool’s case, occasionally spurting) forward. I never thought this game was going to be a victory for beautiful football. That’s not what Milan is about - at their best, they’re just a stunning display of football intelligence and professionalism, able to take their opponents’ games and play them at it. If the pundits reckon that every team can only be categorised into happy flowing football versus toe-crunching tight games, I can only say that it’s a shame that people are paid to flaunt their ignorance.
It was an awful game on most counts, but we ended up being the better team. Nesta? Flawless. Maldini? Imperious. Dida? Far more solid than Reina.Oh, and Inzaghi? Solid. Gold. I love that man for being 33 and still playing every game like he has a point to prove.

Forza Milano congrats to them indeed who cares about Liverpool, Milano won and thats all there is to it!
English commentators pissed me off to no end and at the end the studio pundits kept complaining how Milano were crap at this, crap at that yes Liverpool were magicians who dominated and where the best team in the Universe.
Congrats Italy to a fantasic footballing year!
