Great article, as a palermo fan its great to see the rest of the calcio watching world is taking note of our main man. As Giro said, Miccoli is even more of a joy to behold than Amauri (who has a special place in all our hearts) Miccoli and Cassano are the two most creative forwards in the league, and either should always be on the pitch for the national team, its lippis loss and palermos gain because he is so injury prone. Miccoli is the true captain, leader and icon of Palermo now.

Don’t forget his winning bicycle kick goal against Liverstool AT Anfield in a 2-1 win for Benfica.

Even at Juve I thought Miccoli showed enough to warrant a longer stay. But, that’s how it goes some times and he hasn’t done too badly himself since then. Should definitely have more caps though, but we could say that for a few players these days.

The Miccoli to Benfica loan was always a little suspicious, especially since Enzo Maresca was sent away to Spain by Moggi that same summer in a similar manner. But when you do the research, Miccoli didn’t really have a choice, as he was waiting for Roma to pick him up put they weren’t budging and as the transfer window came to an end it was either go to Benfica or sit on the Juve bench until January.

Being a Palermo fan I have been lucky to see Hitmen like Luca Toni, and Amauri. But they both dont compare to Grande Miccoli. He creates his own goals and can score from almost anywhere on the pitch. When we play a big team you always know he is going to show up.

Lippi’s son, like Moggi’s son were agents in GEA World, and it is alleged that the club put pressure on him to hire Davide Lippi as his agent, which he refused and called Davide Lippi something along the words of corrupt and thus was the rumored reason he was loaned out to Benfica. Trial is still going on about it.

Miccoli is a great player and should be in the Nazionale, but given his fragile health maybe Palermo is happy he is not. Imagine a frontline of Pazzini, Miccoli, Cassano, Iaquinta, and Gilardino. With Miccoli/Cassano, there’s no way Gilardino or Iaquinta could not score
