Inter Crush Sampdoria, Or: Figo’s Still Got It
By: Martha | January 25th, 2007
In the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final meeting with Sampdoria, Inter rolled to a 3-0 away win, with a certain Portuguese winger turning an “outstanding” performance and assisting on all three goals with great service on free kicks and corners. (Hmm. Maybe he should get some first team action? Possibly?) To their credit, Samp’s fans turned up in impressive numbers, at least compared to the typical Coppa crowds — 12,184 manic people witnessed the whupping.
Considering the fact that Inter’s team, while full of big-names, was a mostly second-choice side, this result does not bode well for Sampdoria. Not only do they go to the San Siro next week needing a 4-0 win to advance to the Coppa finals, but they also play Inter this weekend in league, a match in which Macini is likely to send out an even stronger team the one that administered yesterday’s thumping.
Well, maybe between now and Sunday, Sampdoria will at least sort out that whole defending set plays thing. Baby steps and all that.

Figo rules. Too bad he’s going to Saudi Arabia. He still has it. Compare his performances in World Cup and Italy compared to Beckham’s form in the last year. Mr. Spice is more hype then anything else.
