Fiorentina v Chievo: Hells Yeah!
By: Martha | April 29th, 2007
That game (which I finally finished watching) was just all kinds of awesome. Let me count the ways:
1. Riccardo Montolivo being the best player on the pitch by a mile throughout the first half.
2. The speed with which Fiorentina transition from defending to attacking.
3. Adrian Mutu working and trying to be a leader. That guy has grown up a ton, just this season — I think he might have finally become an adult.
4. Gigi Del Neri’s glasses.
5. Martin Jorgensen, of all people, playing right back and doing it well. (I know Ujfalusi is hurt, but since when is Jorgenson next in line there?)
6. The through ball Montolivo played for Reginaldo’s disallowed second goal: Inch. Perfect.
7. Reginaldo’s non-disallowed goal. Watching him makes me feel fine about Toni’s inevitable departure. (As I may have mentioned a time or two.)
8. The variety of options the Viola have going forward. They attack with such eagerness and confidence, it’s a complete thrill to watch.
9. The realization that Fiorentina won’t be docked points next year, and will have a chance to spend the entire season up amongst the big dogs.
Slightly less awesome were Pazzini’s constant whining and the makeup on the woman sitting next to Toni in the stand (if you missed the game, think Daryl Hannah in Blade Runner), but neither of those things were enough to harsh my Viola buzz. Man do I love to watch this team.
