Goals of the Week: Giornata 14
By: Francesco | December 1st, 2009
This weekend the unexpected happened: Klaas-Jan Huntelaar scored a goal. But not just one goal, two goals in the space of one minute. Whoever had bets that he wouldn’t score until 2010 lost this weekend. The second was a real beauty too. Cagliari’s excellent form at the moment can be attributed to their strike partnership of Nene and Alessandro Matri, both at 6 goals. Nene was signed as a relatively unknown from the Portuguese league, and he has notched 6 goals so far this season (the one this weekend was excellent), not bad for a total newcomer to Serie A. Matri has always been a decent striker who reached around 8-10 goals per campaign, but this season he has exploded, already at 6. Antonio Di Natale catapulted himself to first on the scoring chart again with his free-kick vs Livorno, so he is now on 10 goals. And congratulations to Giuseppe Greco, scoring his first ever goal in Serie A in spectacular fashion, a stoppage time winner for Bari vs Siena. Goals of the week after the jump.
Antonio Di Natale vs. Livorno – The Italy international scores a beautiful free kick to put Udinese in front.
Nene vs. Juventus – What a strike from Nene, who is left to shoot by the Juventus defense and he unleashes a perfect shot that beats Buffon.
Klaas-Jan Huntelaar vs. Catania – Huntelaar scores his second of the match with this very Totti-like and very beautiful cucchiaio.
Alessandro Matri vs. Juventus – Matri receives the ball, makes Cannavaro look like a Serie D defender, and slips the ball under Buffon’s legs for the finish.
Andrea Masiello vs. Siena – I like this video because it’s taken directly from the curva. Corner kick played out to the edge of the box where Masiello finishes past Curci with an accurate left foot shot.
BEST ALMOST GOAL OF THE WEEKEND:
Gilardino beats both Samuel and Lucio with excellent skill, but fails to finish past Julio Cesar, only hitting the post.

Damn Canna got burned!!!! Hate the fact that they got a beauty against Buffon, but hey it doesn’t happen often. Hunter’s cucchiaio had character of it’s own. I don’t think it would be fair to compare that to anything by Totti, because it doesn’t do justice to either. On the whole, I loved your selection . Thanks a ton dude.
