Ibra Goes Under the Knife; Defenses Sigh With Relief
By: Martha | April 27th, 2007
Electing to put a fork in his season, Inter’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic went Amsterdam yesterday. No, not to continue his own personal Scudetto party — at least not entirely for that reason. Instead, he went to see a doctor friend of his for a little surgery: Apparently Ibra’s been struggling with a groin problem, and it’s causing him enough pain that he decided to cut his losses and get it fixed right away.
The operation was completed this morning and was a roaring success (So says the Inter website, anyway. Of course, since one can’t imagine they’d publicly say “OH THE HUMANITY!” if something had gone terribly wrong, that probably just means he survived.) and, though the normal recovery time is three or four weeks, the big Swede is convinced he’ll be back in time for the return leg of the Coppa Italia final. That said, we probably shouldn’t count on him playing in that game — surely no one at Inter is dumb enough to risk him in a domestic cup game (final or not) if he’s not 100%.
So, what’s up, Ibra? Putting your health ahead of a few points? What, is the century not important enough for you to play through a little pain, you big wuss? It’s not? Oh, ok then. Actually, it seems quite reasonable to me that Ibra — or any other Inter player, for that matter — would take this step now. As you may have heard, they’ve wrapped up the title and, apart from the bling of lots of points, really have nothing left to play for. Obviously they’ll want to put on a good show this weekend for the San Siro Scudetto celebration but, in reality, their season is all but over. If you need to go under the knife, why not do it now and get a head start on rehabbing?

My first thought was: “Omigosh! He’s getting a nose job?”
I am a horrible person. :(
