If You Ask the Spanish Press, Ronaldinho is Out the Door. Kind Of.

Oh dear.If you believe Spanish newspaper Marca, Barcelona are at least semi-resigned to that fact that Ronaldinho will be a Milan player come this summer. Though the report in Calciomercato makes it sound as if the paper announces the player’s departure, that’s not really the case. Instead, it simply gathers together a group of recent quotes from Ronaldinho and his brother/agent, all of which basically throw the door wide open to his eventually departure.

When Marca asked Ronaldinho about his status, he conveniently referred every question about Milan to his brother, playing innocent and insisting “To me to only it is called on me to play, that I leave it for my brother. I am only worried about this season, to play and hoping that all this is solved as rapidly as possible.” You know, as if he had no idea that his brother has practically taken up residence in Milan, ostensibly because he’s really, really worried about Ricardo Oliveira’s status (a cover story even Oliveira can’t possibly believe).

His bother, meanwhile, is playing coy, telling the Italian press that Milan are in the proverbial pole position should Barca show any willingness to part with world’s highest paid footballer while, back in Spain, he insists he’d had no sketchy conversations, and says “there is [no reason] to speak of these subjects when it is very well in Barcelona, has contract until 2010 and we are calm.” So, there you go. Calm, but traveling regularly to meet with representatives of another club. That’s normal, right?

When will all this be over? Well, if you ask Brother of Ronaldinho, it’ll be “One, two, four weeks… I do not know.” Sigh. Settle in, kids, this is gonna be a long one.
